Goodness me, Abe is so adorable
....... I've only just seen Hellboy1 (yah, i didn't actually follow this series before)... and thought it was pretty good X3 They must have had a lot of fun making it. Will eventually see the 2nd movie X3 squee... Doug Jones is amazing! *dance* And David Hyde Pierce did Abe's voice so well in HB1... Hehe... I knew that voice was familiar XD~ And very suited for the character too~ it was really sweet of him to refuse credit in the movie in respect to Doug's acting~ It'll be gd to hear Doug's own voice in the 2nd!Anways, this fun sketch is referenced from photos of Abe's movie design. Had a bit of trouble figuring out his gills.. Looks a bit messed there.

It's cheesier, but there's good sequences in there and there is a *whole* lot of Abe.

I will not...However I will admit, some of the sequences were fun, and the visuals were really good, the plot was lacking substance. I never read the comics, but I could only imagine there was a struggle for identity and morality for Hellboy considering he is the spawn of Satan fighting to save humanity. The first film used that motif heavily and the second touched on it here and there, but it was so miniscule, it did not feel like a solid attempt. Hellboy being a hellspawn is something that he could not escape, or at least I would think so. Most of the actors more like high school drama club members more so than professional actors, but I would have been willing to overlook that if the movie was exciting. If had humor in mostly the right places, but it just didn't make the movie feel as menacing and dark as the first. Overall, it just didn't feel as epic and adventurous as its predecessor. I think I was so harsh on it because I saw Dark Knight just before I saw this movie. It's unfair to compare the two but I can't help it. I could go on about what I feel about it, but I think I've written too much already. Maybe I should try to join the boys over at Rottentomatoes...lol...j/k
