The Mind & Spirit Contest Entry

Category: Digital Art

Artist:
Artwork Title: Mind & Spirit
Description: Creativity is the principle of novelty. Creativity introduces novelty into the content of the many, which are the universe disjunctively. The creative advance is the application of this ultimate principle of creativity to each novel situation which it originates. The ultimate metaphysical principle is the advance from disjunction to conjunction, creating a novel entity other than the entities given in disjunction. The novel entity is at once the togetherness of the 'many' which it finds and also it is one among the disjunctive ' many' which it leaves; it is a novel entity, disjunctively among the many entities which it synthesises. The many become one, and are increased by one. In their natures, entities are disjunctively 'many' in process of passage into conjunctive unity...

(Alfred North Whitehead, Process and Reality, p. 26)

Stunning piece - great use of colour, and together with the structure, it reminds me of chakra's - appropriate choice of frame offsets the piece nicely. The description gives the piece a lovely depth.

Well done.

Thanks. I started out with the chakras in mind, but then the picture took another way by itself.
Then WhiteheadΒ΄s thoughts pushed the right buttons and kind of inspired me to finish this one.
I'm glad you ejnoyed this,

Yeah, McKenna is a huge inspiration. I hope the picture speaks for itself, but i decided to quote Whitehead in case it doesnt.
Thanks! Glad you liked it

i got a copy of whitehead's "process and reality" two years ago and have not had the balls to read even the first page yet. i even have his "easier" books but could only get so far in them... i much prefer mckenna's quotes, agh, lol. i did however read chardin, who is amazing.

Whitehead is sort of new to me, i really like his metaphysical ideas. Another great mind "surfing the fractal wave at the end of history" is Jose Arguelles, who's work is really flipping me out. I donΒ΄t remember having read Chardin, so i'll look for his stuff. Thanks
