(Honsell Jaxon Oil Pastel, Mars Lumograph Black 8B)

Again oil pastels but this time I tried something different.

I used a solvent (Zest-It) to blend the pastels.

I used a brush to apply the solvent, blending works good and easy, but one has to be careful not smudging the colors too much, e.g. from darker to lighter colors.

Otherwise it get easily muddy.

I think I used a bit too much solvent in the beginning, the pastels got almost liquid and stayed liquid quite some time.

When they are still in this disolved state you can't really apply new layers, as it just wont stick, but it feels as it would melt down the stick in your hand.

I saw in a video somebody drawing with a soft pencil over oil pastels and I tried this out to draw a forground figure and some birds on he horizon.

This works surprisingly good, I thought the pencil would not stick on the oily pastel, but this is not the case.

It almost feel the opposite, the pencil lays down pitch black strokes with ease, even better and more black than usual.

This works great.
