Here is a brief look at Breathless Photon Torpedo and Probe!
The probe rarely seen in Star Trek TOS, is a little bigger then the Photon Torpedo and can be adapted with any science equipment if needed.
Four space collectors are located in the middle of the probe, which deploy once the probe is launched collecting information and relaying it back to the ship.
The head of the probe has cameras and sensors and at low warp speeds, can be controlled by the ship to anywhere.

Now you maybe wondering how many probes are aboard?
The ship at all times has six probes ready to go, but the ship like the Photon Torpedos can be 3D printed. 3D printers by the 23rd century are advance, making storage simple. Just like the food replicators using transporter technology to store food pattens all stored inside the computer system of the ship!
