Description Edit:
1/7/11 - A DD!? Wow Thank you very much. Totally unexpected!
+OMG calling it 'dAST' would be soooo confusing 1.) This is a suggestion. 2.)Lets break it down: dAST- dA= deviantART ST=Standard Time

1/3/11 - The top area circled in red is an updated visual created for me by ~YuseiDarkUmbreon and below that is the original visual.

deviantART Standard Time

Often when coming across a contest or an event, there will be a time for the deadline/occurrence and that time will probably not be in your timezone. So to figure it out you'd have to go to some other site or ask around.
With dAST all you'd need to do is find the difference between your time and dAST, then you are set.

Lets say it is 12 PM my time. So there is a 3 hour difference (from the time shown above [original visual]).
So for instance...
An event is going to be hosted at 5 PM dAST, which would be 8 PM for me.

My honest opinion is while the concept is a great idea, it's hard to use. Club Penguin did this, and it's honestly not used as much as it should, since not everyone knows/isn't familiar.

In all honesty though, it is a great idea, and grats on the DD.

[[ Gah, Time Zones are confusing, especially when you're trying to plan to have a chat with a group of deviants that have 5+ different time zones going on. This would be extremely helpful C: You sir, are a genious~ I'm glad you came up with this! Hopefully dA would consider this as something new they should add :] ]]

Amazing idea!
If it was the dA HQ timezone that became dAST, I would have no use for it as I live in the same timezone as dA, but it would be much easier to have an exact time to start whenever I want to have an in-chat contest on my group.
Anyway, great idea. Hope it gets implemented.

SlaDa-Photography [2011-02-06 14:47:47 +0000 UTC]

would be nice to actually see it happening after 2 years hehehe...cuz if you are like me who lives in the netherlands and need to figure out which time zone i need to look at and calculate how much time difference is this add would be perfect. This way you can set a dAST time for the contest and its straight to the point and clear for everybody no matter where the hell you are

this is also gonna give people the excuse to do this (for us kiddies with parents still watchin' over us):

"you, GET IN BED! it is THREE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING!!"
...*looks at parental unit in an astonished/confused manner* "psssh, naw its only 8:00 ma! the hell are you smokin'."

Glad I'm not the only one it does this(being hours ahead) to.
