Very few of you may have remembered 4 years ago that I made a HTF fanfic entitled Merging Paths, starring my OC Medvaka, about how he grew up in the wild and met his girlfriend who stumbled across his home. Not too long ago, I felt like something was missing in the story, so I came across this small scene where, after Meddie successfully killed Emparavelles the tiger, he assured the leopards that they'd always be his family, as well as accepting to be the successor of Andalok as the jungle ruler. That would have been wonderful to see that, no? Enjoy. ^^

Andalok: *shows up next to Fidig* What's all this hubbub, my star knight?

Fidig: Oh, that? Something you will not believe in your mind. *shows him Medvaka next to the dead tiger*

Andalok: Oh... my... word... Fidig, gather everyone up for tomorrow's big ceremony.

He whispers to her about something very surprising

Fidig: *gasps* Will do, sire!

She and her husband notice their son, all scratched and bruised from the tough fight, coming towards them

Medvaka: M-- Mother, I…

Fidig: What's wrong, love?

The bear boy looks at his paws completely different to his family's

Fidig: Sweetheart, I know what you may be on about… Please trust us on this, we never knew what kind of creature you are or where you were really supposed to belong to.

Medvaka: But why have you decided to raise me? I know I'm feeling very proud to have defeated our worst enemy and have a girlfriend too but… I still wanna know.

Jugai: *sigh* Medvaka… The very moment you were born… your birth parents were bitten to death by that enemy. We soon found you, abandoned and helpless. Of course, like we said, we didn't know what kind of species you are.

Fidig: And we thought that if we'd bring you up as our own child, you would be protected by that tiger.

Medvaka: *widens his eyes a little* Oh… I understand now. But why haven't you told me before? I still could have not been too devastated then.

Fidig: I thought we had a bit more time, the truth is, we were going to explain that when you become an adult, but since you already known, well…

Medvaka: Mom, dad…

The adoptive leopard parents pause upon noticing that Medvaka's still calling them as his real parents

Medvaka: You will ALWAYS be my family, same for my siblings. Can I tell you something?

Jugai: Oh, go on.

Medvaka: Once I found out I'm not a native species, I had a vision of my birth parents. They explained and reminded me that I worked at my very best to fit in with you and many different animals too. Gaining muscle, vine-swinging, incredible speed, saving defenceless little critters… They also told me I can be myself and embrace who I truly am. And of course, here I am, a hero.

Fidig: *on the verge of tears of joy* Oh my precious little baby…!

Jugai: I guess you wouldn't mind becoming the new king then.

Medvaka: I guess n-- *beat* A-- A king?!

Fidig: Oh yeah, Andalok just came and asked me to tell you this. He is offering you to take his place.

Medvaka: But-- But isn't that a bit too much for me? I'm still a kid…

Jugai: Medvaka, you are more than just a kid. In fact, sooner than you think, you'll no longer be one. And besides, you deserve to be king for being incredibly noble and brave and defeated Emparavelles, something that has never been done before; it is what makes you a true hero. Furthermore, with your monkey skills and other miraculous talents you've developed, that would give you a lot of advantages of looking after all of us and protecting our jungle.

Medvaka: I guess you're right dad.

Jugai: But indeed, it is your choice. You don't have to if you don't feel like it.

The feral teenager glances at his new girlfriend Olivia, before looking back at his leopard family for a good moment

Medvaka: …Very well, I accept!

Fidig prowls closer to her beloved son, allowing him to hug her softly. Her heart has never been filled so much more, now that her child is prepared to enter a new era of his best life. The rest of his family are also very happy, even Olivia, who is also undoubtedly joyful to have the unstoppable hero as her new boyfriend
