Description Ah, Crane... one of my absolute faves. Another own-design for canon, and all that jazz~.

I'd have gone with having the coat look like it's been made out of material from cast-off clothes of non-matching patterns, with it being implied that it's basically a trophy coat in the same way Zzazz has trophy scars.

That or imply that it was originally a nice, brown coat, but as time has gone on, it's been patched with whatever was at hand to the point where you could have philosophical discussions about it.

I'm now mentally having fun coming up with costume variations akin to 90's Batman action figures (Think "XTREME TALKING NEON STREET LUGE BATMAN"  or "Digital Domination Batman" and you'd be along the right lines. I mean, it was nearly impossible to find a Batman figure that actually looked like Batman. Even if you removed the missile-firing backpack and the horribly bright-colored armor, you'd end up with a white Batman figurine, if not one with metal waffle armor) I mean, things like "Yamanokami Kakashi Scarecrow" or "Hawk-balloon Scarecrow" that would just be pallet-swaps or add stupid accessories that would never be seen in any media that isn't mocking the concept/franchise.

I could definitely play with the patchwork idea~, whether it's a 'trophy coat' or patched to kingdom come with whatever's available. Sounds like fun, to be honest.

Though... I have very little idea about what you're referencing there... But, most action figures of the 90s were fairly terribly-done in terms of getting the details right, so I can imagine to some degree.

OK.

Most of the Batman action figures you'd see for sale during the 90's would be outfits that you'd never see in the comics or the show. This, sadly, is because the creators wanted to sell toys, yet what does a kid need with TWO Batman action figures that look alike? The outfits would be things like "Digital Domination Batman", which would have a lot of transparent dark-green and vaguely cyberpunkish designs or the infamous "Xtreme Talking Neon Street Luge Batman", which would have Batman dressed in a garishly neon batsuit and come with a neon street luge that spouted 90's slang when a button was pressed. I'm unsure if either of those figures existed irl (The Street Luge one came from the Seris Finale of Brave and Bold, where Batmite is trying to end the series in various ways. DDB may have existed, as I'm sure that I remember seeing a batman figurine with a lot of transparent green and it wasn't an Elseworlds "In Darkest Knight" figurine), but the point stands that out of 20 waves of batman figurines in the 90's, the closest would have been "Combat Belt Batman", which was released in the first wave.

I may have been reaching with the scarecrow thing. A Yama No Kami is a type of scarecrow that looks like a balloon with a massive eye on it, modelled after the one-eyed Kami of the Mountain. I'm aware that I pretty much said "Mountain Kami Scarecrow Scarecrow", but I'm sure that the toy company would have given it a name like that because "Japan is so hot right now."

A Hawk-balloon is a type of birdscaring device that makes it look like a predator bird is flying overhead. Again, reaching with the scarecrow thing. If I REALLY wanted to make a Scarecrow that fired missiles, I'd probably go with making it either fireworks themed or gas-gun themed.

Ah ha... I think I get it, now.

Yeah, trying to sell toys does kinda make for some... 'interesting' things on the shelves.

Ah, yes, the scarecrow-like creature that knows everything yet cannot speak, if I recall. That'd be an interesting take, if nothing else.

The description of the balloon makes more sense to me, now, but all that's coming to mind for an airborne Scarecrow of the ballooning variety... is him strapping himself into an Up-inspired rig and floating over Gotham to 'crop-dust' the whole city with fear toxin. Some continuities, he'd do it, too, and that's the scary thought.

I think I'll stick to a 'Crow that primarily stays on the ground. -snicker-
