They tempted me in -
Sweet promises and lies,
An innocent child,
With innocent eyes.
Never saw the cage,
Until too late.
They had locked the door,
And barred the gate.
Nearly 10 years were spent,
Trying to break free,
No matter what,
I could find no key.
I rattled the bars,
And Screamed for help,
Banged on the door,
until nothing was left.
I was shut in the dark,
Left alone to weep,
Locked up in a cage,
I was locked up for keeps.
Eventually I tired,
And Became so small,
I could slip through the bars,
Not hindered at all...

I really like it. It doesn't necessarily speak only to one emotion; which is what is sadly lacking in most modern poetry. It has universal possibilities. Really nice work.

After I managed to get away from the source of this, I had a lot of emotions that varied from fear to disappointment with myself to anger to pain. I suppose it's only right that a representation would reflect that by demonstrating multiple emotions.
Thankyou.
