I figured Applejack would take the opportunity to sightsee on the occasions she'd get out to this area. Otherwise, I'm not sure what these two are doing or what they're looking at. This just seemed like a scene I wanted to create before finding a purpose for it.The plan for the coloration was quite a bit different until I did some research on desert sky colors. I'm glad I did.
This was completely drawn and painted in Paint Tool SAI.

wonderful job on the layers on the mesa and the fog in the valley... and good shadowing on AJ and Brae. Intersting how the eyes are bright against the shadows of the faces, I really like it!

Very nice concept, especially the shading and sunset effect are amazing. AJ's mouth seems a bit strange, but aside from that it's a very well-done piece.
