I'm trying to figure out exactly how you did this... My friend has been asking me to make her a snorlax hat for a few weeks now and yours is the best looking I've seen. I'm guessing the face is three pieces and the back is three pieces, then you put an M shape for the forehead? I know, I have amazing terminology. lol But is that semi-close and, if not, could you maybe explain it to me? Thanks.

Excellent job, that's exactly what I did! I use 6 petal-shaped pieces to make all of my pokemon hats, and in the case of the snorlax I cut out that blue M-shaped piece around the face, sewed it to the front half (very carefully along the very edge of the piece) and then sewed the blue back half and the tan front half together. I hope that helps, good luck with your friend's hat! X3

Yay I guessed right. XD Thank you! I think it's kind of cool you do six pieces on your hats, it makes them more recognizable as yours and not ones made using the hat tutorial, and you don't get an ugly seam right in the middle of their faces. One last question(I should have included this in my first comment); do you line your hats?

No, I don't, it just takes so damn long. Some people prefer it that way, but I always keep the seams on the inside nice and neat, so it still looks pretty professional. The way I see it, I can line them and charge $35 for them or leave them unlined and charge $20. Either way the durability and external appearance are the same, so pretty much everyone goes for the cheaper option.

Cute hat! One of the best renditions I've seen thus far.
What kind of material did you use for his eyes? I tried just sewing thin pieces of black fleece on mine, but the result doesn't look nearly as impressive as your hat does.

They're thin strips of ribbon, I burned the ends slightly to keep them from fraying, then hand-sewed the ribbon strip on with black thread.

It just takes practice. I was hand-sewing my own cosplay feverishly for 2 years before I even got a sewing machine, so I've had a LONG TIME to perfect it X3
