Description
Heh, I will hopefully sit the characters from the last image on this.I am really crap at 3D modelling so I appolagise for the crudeness of this.
I am yet to add a details to the roof, a hatch in the turret and the all talked about spiky dozer blades to the front.
Any ideas for the detailing and any other ideas are really welcome. It's hard to come up with this kind of stuff for me.
Heavy criticism is also welcome as it will help me improve.
------
All modelling has been done in Anim8or.

You should try google SketchUp! ^ ^
Or blender.

Blender made my head hurt. Goggle SketchUp doesn't have nice file export options last time I checked. But I should do more 3D modeling though.

Turet me blender is worth your time, In Google,s SU you can quickly make simple shapes and buildings and the like, but as soon as your talking about a curve or body, you will need blender.

Perhaps I'll give it a go once I have some more time. I have so many othe projects going on in the free time I have off work that learning something new like that will have to wait. Until then, I'll stick with what I know.

Ok, whatever floats your boat.

Maybe if you added some of road tires, a rear mounted .50 CAL machine gun or even a quad LMG for ANti-Air/Anti-Armor, maybe a 30mm Vulcan Minigun or something to that degree on the roof for Anti-Vehicle and Anti-Personell matters. A bull-dozer ram mounted to the front, with some search lights maybe. Like some one said, a air intake and a snorkal for water/hazardous areas. You could add some barbed wire on the roof along with a host of all kinds of spot lights. And a side door for quicker dismounting of the vehicle.
Other than that, you've got a real nice start. I hope you can do what you think is right. (The best of 3D software I can use is Google's SketchUp so this out does anything I do. So I admire your tenacity at this.)
Nice job so far!

Those are some awesome suggestions. I should go back to it and add those to it. Thanks allot.

*laughs* YES! Spikey dozer blades of doom! Well... eventually.
Good job on the modeling thus far dude, I can't use a modeling program for the life of me.
As for detail ideas. Maybe put an airscoop or snorkel over wherever the radiator is supposed to be, and an exaust stack on the back of the cab section or something... That is provided the APC isn't fuel cell driven. Also, some huge spotlights on the roof would not look out of place. And that big deck, or engine cover on the back looks like a great spot for a gatling gun emplacement.
As it's an APC I, personally, would put a large squad exit door over that back deck, to keep troops out of enemy fire while debarking. (If indeed that is what it's supposed to be, and is provided you don't have that planned already.)
I have a few other ideas for details, but they will have to wait until later as a friend of mine here at college needs some help figuring out how to add users to SQL.

SQL is a bitch.
Heh, I like the spotlight idea. It could go on one side while an anti-armour missile box could go on the other.
Hmm... I might have part of the back fold down as an embark/disembark ramp. And an air scoop sounds cool too. Modified car style?
Thanks for the ideas. Keep 'em coming.

Where about?
A co-axil machine gun or something?

I have no idea what that is, but I love the sound of it. Throw one on!

Good start bro,
Never used Anim8or, but some basics i can point out is, hide the lofting curves you used to make the wheels and take off the mesh if possible, looks better when rendered
but i'll wait for more detail to appear before i make more specific crit,
oh, the wheels, can you increase the smoothness? they look a bit square o_O

Also any suggestions of details and random gubbinz would be welcome.

Yeah, this is a view mode that is a cross between wire frame and solid view so all the mesh lines are visible. I did it this way because it is more defining than the smooth view.
I'm not too sure what I'm going to do about the wheels. I'm trying to keep the polygons down so that This can be imported into a game engine if needed. It would be a shame to just have a pretty model that does nothing.

Ooh! I think it's groovy. Never done modelling myself so I can't give advice, but it's gr8.

Dude. Awesome. I'd love to see this all textured up...as for detailing it with textures....some bullet ricochets on it. Just look at DOW tanks to get ideas for it.

Heh, this babe is going to be covered in scratches, bullet marks and all sorts of wear and tear. Just as soon as I work out how to make it in photoshop.

Well, that's a start. Though I'm more hopeless in 3D modelling. I'm a 2D artist
Well, looks kinda like an amphibious APC from here. You could try modelling in vehicle numbers, firing ports and roof hatches or stuff like that.

PyroTeamkill In reply to Snowfyre [2007-03-13 08:28:27 +0000 UTC]
Thanks dude. 3D modelling isn't that hard. Just as long as you have Snap-To-Grid on everything works out great.
I guess it is amphibious. Numbers are probably going to come with the texture. I will add a hatch at the top of the turret and perhaps one larger one at the back. The windows along the side could be used as firing ports. Hmm
