Also if consoles take over PCs as gaming machines then the chances of small time companies and projects breaking into the market is reduces as there are large licence fees that must be paid to the console manufacturers. The games also have to be approved by the console manufacturer too.

You know you can get controlers for PCs. The XBox 360 controller works straight out of the box

Yeah, that's true... but, I also think console games are better (in terms of my own enjoyment). I mean, I do like some PC games (like Dawn of War), but I just enjoy console games more (like Kingdom Hearts).
However, this may also be because my computer is kind of old and doesn't play many of the games I have bought >w<
