Description So That is What a Starseed Is – Another Sailor Warrior?

Exam time arrived with the first of December.  Bree was relieved that she had managed to catch up in her schoolwork.  Her life had been relatively quiet since Thyst had approached her that night on the riverbank.  Since then, the only thing she heard of the he and his sister was the attacks of the monsters on the news.  She was upset that she wasn't able to help the girls and the few boys that had been attacked, but she couldn't be everywhere at all times.  It was like she was being avoided on purpose, although that couldn't be the case as she was sure no one knew of her identity as Sailor Zephyrus.  If they did know who her real identity was, wouldn't she have been targeted and attacked at her home already?

Outside the large gym Bree had some time to think before her first exam – European History from the French Revolution.  She felt thoroughly prepared to write three essays, but at the same time she was silently praying that there would be no attacks or monster appearances during this particular exam.  Sitting on the floor across the hallway from Bree was a short Native girl.  She was staring at Bree, quite intensely.  Her black hair was cut in a bob, and it framed her pretty face in a very complimenting manner.  The eyes that were boring into Bree were gold, an odd colour for someone of Native descent.  Bree was starting to get unnerved when the girl wouldn't look away.

"Nervous about an exam?" Bree asked, hoping to strike up a conversation, a very uncharacteristic thing for her to do.

"Oh, I don't go to university," the girl answered.  "I am waiting for a friend."  With that, she stood up and walked away.  Confusion mixed with relief in Bree's head as she watched Native girl leave the building.

"You can now enter the gym!" the exam officiator called from down the hall.  Bree did her best to clear her mind of everything but European history.

Three hours later, Bree exited the gym.  She was extremely thrilled at how well she was able to articulate her thoughts on the effects of bread prices in 16th century French economy.

A dart shot past Bree's head, narrowly missing the guy behind her before burrowing into the wall.

"So much energy!"  Down the hall was a blue Hulk-like monster.  Protruding from the monster's shoulders were two miniature snake heads, each with what looked like a blow dart in its mouth.  They shot the darts at the mass of students trying to exit the gym.  One hit a target.  The poor girl was enveloped with purple lightning.  She went rigid, and began to glow.  From her chest rose a shining, diamond-like object.  The glow around her almost immediate diminished, and the diamond went black.

"FAKE!" screamed the monster.  It charged towards the crowd, which was now racing back into the gym, towards the emergency doors.  As it ran, the monster was shooting darts at an amazing rate.  The same thing that happened to the first girl occurred to every single victim hit.  A dozen of the blackened seeds soon floated in the hall.  Bree was trying her best to escape the mob in order to transform, but it was getting increasingly difficult.  She was being pushed back into the gym.

Inside the gym doors, she saw her chance.  She leaped and grabbed the hanging climbing mesh, and was able to ascend into the balcony.  Out of sight, she pulled out her transformation butterfly.  "West Wind Metamorphosis!"

Almost everyone had made it out the emergency doors.  Sirens were blasting throughout the building.  Sailor Zephyrus positioned herself right above the gym doors, waiting for the monster to enter.

"At least it waited until after the final," she muttered to herself.  Two more darts flew through the door, both hitting targets.  The monster bellowed, and burst into the gym.  It stopped, almost directly below Zephyrus, and bellowed again.

Zephyrus jumped.  "Razor Rain!" she cried, throwing the weight of a maelstrom at the monster.  It didn't have a chance to react before it was enveloped in Zephyrus's personal kind of storm.  The sailor soldier landed, and shot more magic at the monster.  "Gale Force!"  The wind summoned by her second attack blew away the first.

Stunned, the monster attempted to recuperate.  Zephyrus wanted to finish it off as quickly as she could.  She launched herself, putting all of her weight and energy into a punch to the monster's head.  Unfortunately for her, the monster had fast reflexes for its size.  It grabbed her arm and flung her through the nearest wall.  Zephyrus broke right through the brick and mortar, landing in a bruised and bloody pile in a snow bank.

"Ow," she moaned.  She tried to get up, and failed.  She was sure that her left leg wasn't broken, but damn close.  She was extremely grateful that as a warrior, she seemed to be a hell of a lot more durable.

The blue monster strode towards the injured Zephyrus.  It picked her up by the neck with one hand, her feet dangling a good six inches off the ground.  It was smiling, an evil expression on its ugly mug.  "You have a real starseed."

Zephyrus closed her eyes, preparing for the worst.  She didn't have the time to attack, and she was too injured to struggle.  Prepared to face the inevitable, she silently apologized to Sailor Mene for not completing her mission.

"SOLAR FLARE!"

Even from behind her eyelids, Zephyrus saw the flash of the magical attack.  It was almost as bright as the sun itself.  The monster let go of the warrior, and she fell to the ground with a thump.  Opening her eyes, Zephyrus saw that all that was left of the monster was a puddle of blue goo surrounded by melted snow.  She looked around, but couldn't spot the source of her salvation anywhere.  If it had been another sailor warrior, she was either long gone or very good at hiding.  What did it mean if there was another sailor warrior here with her?  Would she help her find Sailor Mene's host and defeat the siblings, Ame and Thyst?

Sailor Zephyrus was sure of one thing as she began to de-transform; she needed to talk to Sailor Mene.  But at least she knew what a starseed looked like.

Bree arrived home, tired and grumpy.  She needed to study for a few more exams, but she had more important things on her mind.  She wasn't sure who saved her, but she had a hunch it was another sailor warrior, like herself.  The first thing she wanted to do was find out if any other sailor warriors had existed on Earth before her.  She had a hazy memory of hearing about some sort of Sailors in the 1990s, but she wasn't quite sure.  She had been a little kid then.

She went to Google, and typed in "Sailor Warriors".  Several hits popped up, but browsing through the first three pages revealed nothing relevant to what she was looking for.  On a whim she tried "Sailor Mene".  No results appeared, but the handy little "were you searching for" was there.  It asked Bree is she was looking for sailor men or Sailor Moon.  Bree clicked the Sailor Moon search, and several hits appeared.  The first page was filled with links to newspaper articles from Tokyo.  Most were written in Japanese characters, therefore Bree was unable to read them.  However, she managed to stumble upon one in English.  It even included a picture of a beautiful woman in a sailor costume similar to Mene's.  She had fluffy white wings, and a golden crescent moon on her forehead.

Bree continued her research on Sailor Moon and the other Sailor senshi, as they were called in Japan, for hours.  At the end, she discovered they were active in Japan to about 1995, and hadn't been seen since.  There had been many monster attacks and strange happenings in Tokyo for the first half of the 1990s, but stopped with the disappearance of the sailor senshi.  As well, prior to Sailor Moon, a Sailor V had appeared in Britain, and then Tokyo.  She fought crime and monsters as well.  Bree found a lot of Sailor V merchandise, and fewer for the other sailors.  Unfortunately, there was no possible way to contact these girls or anyone who would know about them.  Bree consistently noticed that their outfits looked a lot like Sailor Mene's but only resembled hers in the collar and choker.

She was a tiny bit disappointed after finishing her quest, so Bree logged onto her university website account.  A new announcement had been posted since she checked it in the morning.  Bree clicked the "Guest Lecturer Coming Soon" link and read.

"World Famous Musician Heading this Year's Arts and Humanities Guest Lecturer Series.  Michiru Kaioh, world famous and multi-recording concert violinist, will be giving a lecture concerning the history and future of classical music and its movements. This is the first time in several years that Miss Kaioh has lectured at a university or music school outside of Asia or Europe.  The university is honoured to welcome her, and will be holding a meet and greet at the faculty club after the lecture. "

Bree closed the page and smiled.  While searching for articles about Sailor Moon, she had come across a few news pages featuring Michiru Kaioh, who had been rising to fame at the same time Sailor Moon and the other senshi had been active in Tokyo.  Bree would attend the lecture, and afterwards, maybe Miss Kaioh could answer some questions about the sailor senshi when they had been fighting.  Besides, what a famous classical violinist thought about the history and future of music was bound to be interesting.  She also silently hoped that her accent wouldn`t be too hard to understand.
