Description A Beautiful Lecturer – Another Attack!

The Occasions Building bustled with activity.  The entire week would be filled with special guest lecturers speaking on various topics.  Bree was only concerned with two of them – Michiru Kaioh and Rostyk Korolovna – a Russian history expert.  Miss Kaioh was speaking today, and Bree was camping out outside the main hall until the lecture began at 7:00 PM.  She wasn't the only one; a few music majors were just buzzing with excitement. Apparently the Japanese violinist was the top in the world, and to hear her play was a great honour, let alone to hear her speak and be able to socialize with her.  Bree had looked up pictures, and Michiru was gorgeous.  Her natural aqua hair was just luminescent, and her blue eyes shone with intelligence and the mystery of oceans.  Apparently she was a painter as well and almost as famous for that as for being a concert violinist.

Finally 6:30 rolled around, and the doors were opened.  Bree and the titillated music majors were the first to enter the room.  The lecture would not be starting for at least a half hour, so Bree brought out a small comprised history of music book she had checked out of the library that morning.  She wanted to be prepared to talk to Miss Kaioh about other things than the sailor senshi in Tokyo.

More and more people were trickling into the room.  Bree wondered how well attended this lecture would be.  She had heard the lecture was required for a few music classes, but she didn't know who else would show up.  None of her friends were planning on coming.  Nonetheless, the theatre started to fill up quite quickly.  Just before seven, all the seats were filled.  A few people had to stand on the edges of the aisles.  Bree was impressed – this violinist must be renowned.

One guy in particular caught Bree's eye.  He was standing at the back, scanning the crowd.  He had fluffy blonde hair, and wore a leisure suit.  Bree thought he was very good looking for an older guy, maybe about 25 or so.  He stood very gracefully for a guy, which made Bree wonder if he could be a dancer.  However, she didn't have time to ponder the good looking man longer, because the Dean of Music stepped onto the stage.

"Welcome everyone," the stout, grey-haired man said.  Bree always laughed when she saw him, because he reminded her of piano players from the 1920s that you saw in movies.  "I am very pleased to announce and introduce the first speaker for our very special guest lecturer week.  I don't know how we convinced her to come, but she said yes.  She has been a renowned musician and painter since her teens, playing concerts and doing shows all over the world since the mid-1990s.  So, with that, it is my honour to introduce, Miss Michiru Kaioh."

The audience began to clap.  The dean stepped offstage, but no one else appeared to step up to the podium.  The dean began to look confused and unsure whether he should sit down.  That's when Bree heard the music.  It was beautiful and haunting, like she was drowning underwater.  But not suffocating.  Each note was like a wave, a pulse.  Bree was tempted to close her eyes, when she stepped onstage.  The aqua haired woman was one of the most beautiful and graceful creatures Bree had ever set eyes on.  She wore a blue skirt and jacket suit, and let her hair flow like liquid around her shoulders while she played.  The entire crowd was transfixed.  With a halt, Michiru lifted her bow, and the spell broke.

"Thank you for the warm welcome," she said, laying down her violin.  Bree was impressed.  There was a hint of an accent, but her English was almost flawless.  And her voice was as entrancing as her appearance.  "I am honoured that so many of you came to hear me speak today."

Bree decided she was going to like this lecture.

After Michiru completed her very informative and interesting lecture, Bree followed the majority of the audience to the campus faculty club.  Michiru was constantly surrounded by some sort of gaggle.  Bree almost gave up hope of talking to her at all, but her determination to find out more about sailor warriors made her stay.  Bree stuck as close as she could to Michiru, stepping back when someone approached the violinist with an autograph.  Most who wanted to talk with the famous musician only had superficial questions.  Bree decided to approach her closer to the end of the night.

Bree drifted around the room, always eyeing up an opening to talk to Michiru.  She chatted with a few others, helping herself to snacks and a couple glasses of wine.  She was admiring the collection of antique china that someone had collected to when she was surprised by another shadow.  She quickly stood up from her kneeling position.  The shadow belonged to the pretty blonde man she had noticed by the door during the lecture.

"You like china as well?" he asked Bree.  He had a soft husky voice, strong and sure.  He had a bit of a Japanese accent, but his English was flawless, just like Michiru's had been.  And Bree just couldn't get over how good he looked.

"I just like admiring it," Bree replied.  When they were both standing upright, she and the man were about the same height.  He may have been a little taller than her, but not by much.

"I do as too.  There is a lot in my house, as my partner likes to collect the really ancient stuff.  Something she picked up from our daughter.  We have shelves of displays."  He smiled, his blue eyes laughing.

Bree was about to reply again when she noticed something soft and blue moving towards her.

"Why Haruka, who is this tall golden beauty you are charming?" Michiru asked, putting her arms around her counterpart.  Haruka responded by resting his hand on the beauty's shoulder.  Michiru was quite a bit shorter than she was onstage, but even more beautiful and graceful up close. Like Haruku she appeared about 25.

"I don't know her name yet, but we seem to share a common interest in just looking at china, and not collecting it – among other things," Haruka muttered.

"You are not to touch Hotaru's lamps," Michiru scolded, looking quite serious.  Bree wondered if she should walk away, if it was going to become a personal fight.  Then Haruka smiled, and Michiru responded in kind.

"Our place is large enough, that's fine.  As long as you both stay out of my garage," Haruka replied, and turned her attention back to Bree.  "May I ask your name?"

"Bree Zedel," Bree replied, offering her hand first to Haruka, then Michiru.  She wasn't sure of Japanese courtesy, but this was what she knew of North American courtesy.

"Tenoh Haruka."

"Kaioh Michiru, but you probably already knew that," Michiru smiled.  She was absolutely gorgeous when she smiled.  "So, you are interested in music?"

"Well, to be honest, I was more interested in the history parts of your lecture.  I am a history major, and I thought they were just fascinating," Bree replied

"Thank you, Zedel-san," Michiru acknowledged. The violinist tripped a little over Bree's last name, but the honorific fit surprisingly well with Bree's last name.  She hoped no one ever asked where her name was from, because it was so horribly mangled by immigration people and illiteracy in the past, source tracing was impossible.  "What do you study in history?"

"Everything," Bree answered.  "Right now I'm interested in the current history of Japan, specifically Tokyo, since World War Two."

"Interesting history," Haruka commented.

"Well, I was wondering if I could ask you two some questions about Tokyo when you were younger?"

"I would love to answer some non-music related questions," Michiru agreed.  "And I'm sure if I don't know something, Haruka might.  She's a race car driver, you know?"

"Only because running track doesn't pay well," Haruka murmured.

"Well, I was looking at some newspaper articles from the 90s, and I noticed these girls know as sailor senshi mentioned a few times.  I was wondering if you knew a bit more about it.  Stuff that wasn't mentioned in the newspapers, like if you saw them or anything?"

Haruka and Michiru exchanged a look, the Michiru smiled.  "You're curious because of the recent appearance of a sailor senshi here, aren't you?"

"That too.  After she appeared, everyone became interested.  People were even dressing up as her on Halloween.   It's a typical social and historical phenomenon, but I'm curious about other similar events."  Bree studied Michiru's face as she thought, but it was Haruka that spoke first.

"There were thirteen sailor senshi in all that appeared.  They saved people from monsters.  The most beautiful of them was Sailor Moon, although you probably read about her.  She was the most popular," Haruka paused for a moment.  "I think I still have the plush of her that I won from a machine."

"Those girls were very powerful," Michiru picked up.  "They saved the Earth many times from Chaos.  I'm surprised that you didn't hear of them in Canada."

"Thanks for answering my question," was Bree's reply.  "And I think I heard about Tokyo's sailor senshi.  But I was under nine when the news would have reached here, and I probably wasn't paying attention.  Thank you again.  I really enjoyed your lecture, Miss Kaioh."  Bree and Michiru exchanged a smile, and Haruka nodded curtly.  Bree meant to leave the faculty club immediately, but something made her stop.  As soon as she was out of sight of the couple, they began talking rapidly in Japanese.*

*"Do you think she knows who we are, Michiru?"

"I think it is just a coincidence Haruka. She is looking at a recent history of Tokyo and the sailor senshi there, and we are from Tokyo."

"Still. I can sense an energy similiar to yours in her.  And the papers say that there is only one sailor senshi."

"Haruka, love, I can sense it too. But she has a lot more energy of the sky and wind, like you possess."

"I know. So, who is this girl with wind and water crashing within her?"

Although grateful for what information she gathered from the beautiful Japanese couple, Bree still was not satisfied with what she knew about sailor warriors.  She was the only one here in Canada, as far as she knew.  Haruka said there had been thirteen in total that appeared in Japan.  She was down by the part of the river than ran by the university campus, close to the city's grandest hotel.  She was staying a bit away from the hotel, as it seemed to be having some sort of banquet.  Even though it was December and cold, some guests were still wandering outside to admire the Christmas lights the hotel had strung around its huge riverbank area.  Bree took a moment to admire them as well.  She liked Christmas, and was looking forward to going home to visit with her family.  She was hoping to take a little break from her duties as a senshi.

She heard the ice crack before she felt the dark energy.  And then the screams started.  Shadows engulfed the hotel, extinguishing all the Christmas lights.  Bree pulled her butterfly charm out, and raised it.  "West Wind Metamorphosis!"

Transformed, Sailor Zephyrus shot in the direction of the hotel.

omg!! what do you mean they didn't give any good info?! she mentioned CHAOS!! wouldn't that clue into Bree's head? wouldn't she at least think "ho, wait a second, Michiru mentioned "chaos". Did she mean the general "the world is going to hell in a handbasket" chaos, or THE Chaos, that which has the name of Chaos? Wouldn't she at least wonder if the knowledge of Chaos was common knowledge?

and when Michiru refered to Haruka by "she" instead of "he", wouldn't Bree be doing a total mental double-take? You should throw in some mental dialogue after that part...something like..."omg..."she"? SHE?" *does a covert checking-out of Haruka, notices the subtle evidence of feminine proportions hiding beneath her masculine clothing* "Damn, I may not be a lesbian, but I still think she's hot!" LMAO

Good tips for the rewrite. And wanna hear something funny? After I wrote it, I totally forgot that Michiru reffered to Haruka as a she. lol

For the Chaos thing, Michiru means THE CHAOS, but Bree takes it as general world disorder. Because you see in Chapter 9.
