Description Mene's First Battle, She Needs to Be Trained

Chandra sat on her bed, turning her new piece of jewellery over and over in her hands, studying it.  Her meeting at the cafe the day before was making her reconsider keeping the crescent moon charm.

She hadn't told Bree or Sailor Sol – Aidan – that during the battle with Ame and Thyst, when the bright light had lit up the city and entire sky, she had been able to see clearly.  The silver crescent moon charm had descended from the sky, trailing a fine silver chain.  Chandra had reached out to touch it, and then instantly became Sailor Mene.

The charm was hanging around her neck when she transformed back into her normal self, but Chandra couldn't transform just by touching it anymore.  She was sure she had to say something to transform, just like she to shout a phrase when she wanted to attack as Sailor Mene.  She hadn't figured out what that phrase was yet.  Of course, she didn't know if she wanted to either.

"I don't wanna fight," she moaned, dropping the necklace on her bedside table.  Chandra didn't want to fight, she didn't want to be attacked.  All she wanted to do was be a normal teenager, get her driver's license, and get a boyfriend.  Not necessarily in that order.

Bree was deep in the final pages of one of her history term papers when her cell phone went off.  Aidan had texted her a very short message: her address and two words "Here. Now."  Aiden was definitely used to being in charge and was going to be the leader – no matter who objected.  Bree suddenly got the image of a short little tyrant ruling the world with her Solar Power.  The image made her both smile and cringe at the same time.  If only the rest of the Earth knew who their lives depended on to save the world, they might be worried.

It took her a few minutes to find out which bus route to take to Aidan's place.  Bree was definitely walking across the city in the middle of February.  The bus was halfway to the address Aidan had texted her before Bree realized where she was going.  The houses in that part of the city sold on the market for almost a million dollars. Bree had expected Aidan to live closer to the cafe where they met, which was a long way away from where Bree was going.

Bree knocked on the door before seeing the doorbell.  When she rang the doorbell, a deep booming echoed inside the house.  A few minutes later, Aidan finally opened the door.  She was dressed in her usual dark jeans and a baggy shirt.  She wore loose fitting shirts often to hit the fact that even though she was short, she was a little chunky on top, which included an ample chest for someone who was barely five feet tall.

"Come in," Aidan said.  She didn't even bother to hold the door for Bree.

The front of the house couldn't be called a porch – it was more of a foyer.  The house was gorgeous.  Almost everything was hardwood or wood paneling – polished and gorgeous.

Aidan led Bree into the living room.  Like the rest of the house, that room looked expensive.  The furniture was brown suede, accented with crimson microfiber cushions.

"Your parents must have a lot of money," Bree noted.

"Money's all mine," Aiden responded, flopping down into an oversized chair and grabbing a cigarette off the coffee table.  "My parents have been dead for a really long time."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Bree said sympathetically.  She felt bad for assuming Aidan's parents had given her everything.

"Don't be.  They died about four hundred years ago."

Bree opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out.  Her mind couldn't comprehend.  She was speechless, but Aidan didn't seem fazed.  She also did not offer any explanation.  She was content to smoke her cigarette and watch Bree flounder.

"When were you born?" Bree finally choked out.

"Sometime in the 1600s, in the later part of the century I think," Aidan said, resting her shin in her cigarette hand.  "I was maybe 15 or 16 when some of the first French fur traders arrived.  I'm not entirely sure, since specific dates weren't really important.  I do know that by when the sun srises and sets, that my birthday is August 18th."

"So, you don't age?" Bree asked, sinking into the plush sofa.

"Not since I went on my spirit quest and discovered my true identity as Sailor Sol.  I regained most of my memories from the previous Sailor Sol incarnation as well.  From those I figured out that a really long life span was much during the Golden Era than it is now."

"People used to be immortal?"  Bree realized that her questions might be starting to get annoying, but she was a history major, and therefore curious about anything related to the past.

"The Golden Era was a long time ago, unknown to humans now.  And no, people weren't immortal.  They just lived longer.  I didn't call you over to play twenty questions."

"Why did you call me over here?" Bree wondered.  "As much as I am dedicated to my mission as Sailor Zephyrus, I do still have a life and goals as just Bree.  I was on a role with my history paper when you interrupted me."

Aiden stubbed out her cigarette.  'Fine, I'll get to the point.  Guardian Sol forbid I disrupt your academic career."  Aidan made a very sarcastic gesture and rolled her eyes.  "I just wanted to make it clear that despite our uniform differences, I am the leader, and the head of all sailor soldiers in this system when I choose to exercise that right."

"I kind of got that already," Bree said.  "Is that all?"

"I also have a little task for you," Aidan said with a sigh.  "As much as I love projects, I think I am going to leave the majority of Chandra's training up to you.  I may not have enough patience to do it myself without killing her."

"She might not be that – "  The sound of her buzzing cell phone cut Bree off.  "Hello?"  She answered, forgetting to check who was calling.

"You have to come out and help me!" the voice on the other end screamed.  "My friend Tori is being attacked!"

"Be there soon," Bree promised and hung up the phone.  "That was Chandra," she explained to Aidan.  "Her friend is being attack."

Aidan glanced at her clock, doing some mental calculations.  "At this point in the day, it will be faster to run out there."  She pulled a golden, sun shaped broach from her back pocket. "Golden Solar Power, MAKE-UP!"

"West Wind Metamorphosis!"

Things were not looking good for Sailor Mene.  The monster was dripping saliva on her unconscious friend, Tori, and her Purity Schism attack just wasn't working.  She figured the monster didn't have a soul for her to attack.

"Purity Schism!" she tried again in desperation, bolting through the snow.  Luckily, the monster was tall and its stance was wide enough that Mene could grab Tori and roll away from the monster.

"You are so lucky that I am bigger than you," she muttered as she pulled Tori to safety through the snow.  She set her friend underneath some of the playground equipment, hoping it would be easy to defend her there.  Big and slow, the monster lumbered over to the playground portion of the park, its footprints uncovering the dead grass under the snow.

"Stay back!" Mene threatened, taking a fighting stance like so many action heroes did in the movies.  Although she was unsure if she could actually do anything to defend herself if the monster actually attacked her head on.  "I'm warning you!"

The monster stopped.  Mene wondered if it was actually taking her threat seriously.  It started to back away from Mene and turned towards the grove of trees on the other end of the park.  It stopped again, and cocked its head to the side, as if it was listening for something.  Mene also thought she heard a voice in the distance.  Snow started to fly in the calm air, and the monster was blown back off its feet.  Out of the trees emerged a short dark figure and a tall light one.  Sailor Zephyrus and Sailor Sol charged towards Mene at superhuman speed.  Both launched themselves over the monster and landed on either side of Mene.

"Solar Flare!"  Sol attacked, holding her arms out so her power could arc between her hands.  The solar fire grew, and Sol whipped it out to engulf the monster.  In a flash of light, it turned to dust.

Mene thunked herself down on the edge of the nearest slide, relieved the fight was over.  "Thanks, guys."

"Thanks?!  THANKS GUYS?!?  You called us out here for THAT PATHETIC FUCKING THING?  We shouldn't have had to run out here for THAT.  THAT MONSTER WAS NOTHING!`

"But my attack didn't – " Mene started, but Sol cut her off.

"If magic doesn't work, actually attack the fucking thing!"

"But...."

"BUT WHAT!?" Sol exploded.  Sailor Zephyrus stepped back.  This was not her issue.

"Mene, you should have been able to take that fucking thing out no-fucking-problem.  Sailor Zephyrus could have defeated that monster on her own, and she has a third of your power."

"Hey – " Zephyrus interjected.

"It's true, even if you don't like it," Sol said.

"I don't know how," Mene whined.  A muffled moan drew all three soldiers away from the argument.  Tori was coming to.

"Stop whining and complaing," Sol said, watching Tory closely.  She and Zephyrus had to get out of there before she woke up.  "Zephyrus is going to start training you.  It starts soon, and there is nothing you can do to get out of it."  Sol jerked her head, and she and Zephyrus began to run back to the city,

Mene looked under the equipment again to check on Tori.  She quickly transformed back into Chandra before her friend fully woke up.

I'm loving Sol more and more. She can give Moshi a run for the potty mouth award.

One little thing. Tori name switches to Tory midway through the story. =3

I can totally see Sol and Earth having a competition to try and come up with the most creative swears, just for fun.

And I should fix that name thing for consistancy.
