I'll have to check when the snow is gone, but it might be there still, it is right in Wetaskiwin at Stan Reynolds Auto Sales (they're selling out everything)

Kinda erie to see an old wrecked car like this with a big ol hole and crack in the windshield.
Kinda off topic, it almost looks like somebody hand painted the white walls on it lol

No I don't, but I wrote myself a note to get a shot of it for you the next time I'm out there, I bought the 27 1/2 Dodge sedan from there that I told you about, and a 37 Dodge parts car and my dad grabbed a 32 Indiana... so I'll be back there quite a bit...

I think I might just take a shot of every car and truck still there, places like this are dissappearing fast!

The Step-down Hudson. So called because of the styling, not because of the quality. A break-through in post-war design!

And you're showing the first signs of senility!

QuanticChaos1000 In reply to Kaleidopsyche [2009-03-05 19:15:32 +0000 UTC]

Not senility.....I hope, I never looked closely at the first photo I submitted, if I had I would have realized that it was a DeSoto and not this Hudson... I've been going through my photos (keep in mind that right now I have around 10 000 of my own automotive photos) and i have not found a shot of the DeSoto yet, as soon as I do or take a new one I will post it for you!

I like the step down "baby" Hudsons a lot, and this car always tempts me when I see it!

...Did you know that senile felines backwards is senile felines?

I've known some senile felines. Got one right now; goes by the name of "Bat Cat" or "Batty" for short (and obvious reasons). Likes to sleep on people's feet.

The New Hudson with Twin H Power and Electric Shift! That's when cars were cool!
I think the best thing about the 1950's era was the wide variety of cars you could choose from: Kabinroller to El Dorado!

I have a nameless cat right now (and a stray that I take care of who lives on my porch) [link] [link] I need to find a suitable name for her still...

I have a shot of the Hudson Twin H carb set-up on a derelict 49 near me if you'd like to see that.

Think about all the options you had for cars in the 20's and 30's, by the 50's the number of independant manufacturers had dropped dramatically...

But I agree the 50's would have been a great time for cars, especially in Canada with all of the Canadian specific models along side the American ones!

(BTW, I'm BIG into obscure cars, so I Loooooove the Messershmidt!)

She blends nicely with the patina on that hood!

I think what I like most about that era is the "many answers" to what a car should be. Historically, Lloyds were ahead of their time, eh?

lloyds? how so?

I think that Kaisers, Studebakers, Packards, and Hudsons were ahead of the curve for their time... and that might be a factor in their individual demises...

What is the basic configuration of econ-cars today? Compact FWD with transverse engines - like a Lloyd. Although you could probably hang the design origin on the Austin 750. Honda 600's were basically Lloyd copies, as Subaru copied Goliath (how many other water-cooled horizontally opposed four cylinder engines driving the front wheels do you know?)

Kaiser mismanaged a bit: investing in the Henry J instead of a V-8. Studebaker had cost problems being located in South Bend instead of Detroit. But basically GM & Ford systematically murdered their competition. It just took longer with AMC (and wouldn't have if GM/Ford/Chrysler has kept their small car programs on track).

It has a nice patina and is not bad for rust so it would be a good project for sure, but I have too many right now myself...

It is for sale, after June the fate of this car is unknown...

BTW, I just snagged a 47 Canadian Dodge sedan... with a 6 inch chop!

Looks like it took a punch to the grille... still that'd make one hell of a nice street rod!

It's all fixable though!

And it is in need of saving and is for sale, after June the fate of this car is unknown...

Damn, that's sad. If I had a spot and a way to bring it back I'd be game. Is this a local wrecking yard to you?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

QuanticChaos1000 In reply to HotRod-302 [2009-03-05 07:19:35 +0000 UTC]

This is the yard for a local museum, they have sold out and have been selling off all the cars for the last few years, I have bought several myself, but it changes owners in June, so at that point who knows, it's a young rich kid whos taking over, so it looks grim...
