Description
Not all Heroes Come from Hollywood + TutorialWalk-through tutorial from concept to coloring for this and several other related images
BTW, the kids posing in the top banner of the tutorial are not Lindsay and myself.
This image is a byproduct of a project commissioned by Corel as part of a Painter X/CorelDRAW marketing campaign.
The project was on a super tight deadline. Taking into consideration my inking and screentoning duties on Peach Fuzz, I couldn't figure out how to do the Corel project in time. Lindsay however, had a plan.
The first thing we did was that Lindsay took over the duties of writing and editing the contributed segment of the tutorial. Thank you .
The second thing that saved the project was Lindsayβs suggestion that we hire on another artist to help with the workload. Fortunately, Lindsay knows a lot of people in this industry. She commissioned one of the most talented and popular artists on DeviantART for some moonlighting on the project.
Somehow, Lindsay managed to persuade to assist on the project by coloring up my line work. I couldn't believe it when she agreed. For me it was like getting Hyung-Tae Kim or Tetsuya Nomura to help out. Ms,Shatia is really amazing. I was honored to have her working with me. Thanks Nashya!

Wonderful drawing and coloring!
You guys did a great job.
Although when i try to use the watercolor settings,
something goes wrong.
When i want to highlight it, it gets darker.
any ideas? id really like to learn how to color like this.

I just realised i was using Simple water.
Not 'New Simple Water'

Hopefully that will work it out.

For reasons beyond me, the brush instead of applying the correct color merely seems to apply a much darker shade of the color I attempt to paint with.
I have had this issue before, as I had heard people using it in other tutorials, but every time I tried it I was reminded it would not work for me.
You got any ideas?

You may want to try Restoring the Default Variant on the digital watercolor brush. There's so many minutial Painter settings that could be causing this that I'm not even sure where to start looking. Sorry, I'm stumped.

Hey the tutorial was great! I used it to draw a picture of Alucard from Hellsing. I would really appreciate it if you dropped by and left some feedback because I could really use some tips.

I looked over your picture and I'm not really sure what to tell you. For what it is, it looks good
It could probably benefit from a broadening of the color range. Right now everything is either red, black, or pure white. That's probably how you want it, but it wouldn't hurt to establish a subdued and secondary light source on the left-hand side of the picture to help separate the character from the murkiness of the background.

Ah, yet another lovely piece of art... the three of you make a great team! Wonderful job!
He may not come from Hollywood, but he sure looks as if he belongs there! Hmm... maybe he should have his own movie?
*adds to my faves list*
Now, if you'll excuse me... *rushes off to get the tutorial* O,,o

Aggh! No more. You're embarrassing me to death with your compliments. Ms,Shatia makes him look pretty good with her colors, but he was a real rush job. I suppose I'm glad he turned out as good as he did. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial anyway.

Sorry, I just can't help myself! *giggles* But itβs all true! ^^
The colors are very brilliant, no doubt about that... but Iβm surprised to hear it was a rush job, which makes him that much more impressive, due to the amount of detail in the drawing!
He turned out wonderfully! Oh and the tutorial was great, I really enjoyed it! (Obsessed with tutorial)
