Description
A drawing of Dite that I'd done a loooong time ago. Honestly, when I saw the inked piece in a sketchbook, I didn't even know I'd done it. The style is very different from what I normally do. I'd like to do things more like this, though.I really used this piece as an experiment in coloring and shading. Last quarter, a professor of mine was going over how to shade things in Flash. He used this "blotch-shading" technique, where you basically "blotch" in the color gradients without softening them (so rather than blend them, you leave the color differences crisp). The style itself is interesting and kind of apealing. I liked it enough to not continue blending the colors together like we were told. Or, maybe, I'm lazy. xD Either way, I've seen other artists on DA use a similar technique (GO SEE VANI -demand!-), so I guess it isn't all that unusual.
I may or may not experiment more with this style. I think this was a good practice run, though.

I love the shading on this. I love how you did her face, and the 'soft' ears. Her expression is also adorable. Good Job!

That cel-shading style is, after all, what they used to do in the good ol' Disney films before they got computers to soften the edges for them. it's an awesome style with a real crisp charm to it that makes one think of oldschool cartoons
wonderfully done here, I particularly enjoy how you handled her ears I'd actually shape the edges of the shadows so that they look like fur, more jagged, rather than leaving a completely smooth line. but you've done a great job of picking out the dimensions with the dark shadows! Dite is such an awesome character
