Description
Hello! I love that this still gets faves (TRIOPS FANS UNITE) so it will probably always stay in the gallery, but please be aware it's a drawing from 2006. If you'd like to see more artwork from me, I can recommend my more recent works, they're probably a lot better.
---
I love my triops, I love them to bits. I can't wait to see them again in spring. *sigh*
In the meantime, here's some young anthromorphic triops playing catch-the-sphere. Damn the colours were hard to get...

Kabutops, obviously. Totally extinct. I'm 100% sure.
It's not as if they could somehow be miraculously brought back from fossils or anything, ha! What an idea.

Wow, amazing detail! I think I know what my imaginary alter ego looks like! Anyway, I'm new on this website and tried to finish a comment. Oh well, Ill make a new one! My first triop was named Louiz. It could be a girl or boy name. After 5 days, yep, it died, my bro just yelled at me for taking the computer, sorry for the randomism but I could tell the difference between males and females. I dont want to explain again! Go on google and type pictures of triops males and females. and 5 minutes ago, Snoop died! it was not big enough to tell if it was a boy, or a girl. If you want to see a vid on youtube search bar type Triops Cancroformis, yes I have all A's SPELLING. It will show a triop eating upside down and later in the vid, it will show triops making nesting grounds! In the video, you will listen to litlte mermaid Under The Sea. Oh, and dont use BAD LANGUAGE!!!!Im a boy, 13, who needs a girl friend and more friends! PS im MORMON/ LDS.

Haha, yeah, I'm quite familliar with the way they move, though I haven't owned any since this picture was drawn in 2006. They're adorable!
I didn't know it was possible to tell the sexes apart just by looking though. Mine weren't Cancriformes, they were Longicaudatus, which are a different species that don't need water quite as warm. They're also a bit greyer and don't turn upside-down as much.
Triops are quite sensitive to direct sunlight and changes in temperature, as well as water quality. Maybe you can search online for tips on how to keep triops? It's strange that they would die just 5 days after hatching.

QuazarShark In reply to kenloka [2007-06-03 14:56:58 +0000 UTC]
Mine didn't flip, they were the european species, triops longicaudatus. It's the triops cancriformes that flip, the lighter coloured ones that need more heating. Note I have no idea if I'm spelling these names correctly.. <_<
I've had the ones you mean though, they're adorable when they flip. :3

you depicted them superbly.

T'ankyo.
The triops always struck me as thoughtful, active, and generally of pleasant disposition.

Oooh they are _such_ funky-looking creatures. I wish I could see more of the lower-right one, as ducttaperesidue pointed out. I agree with chikkennoodul regarding the sci-fi film comment! This concept really does kick triops behind. I suppose some blue in the shadows may have helped unify the image, but who am I to say? If you'd done that, the sphere may have lost its impact.

I was going to do a background of murky water, but I didn't want to spoil the colours in the end so I left it.
Thanks for the comment Donna! And triops don't have behinds! At least, not in the strictest sense...

I love that top one! So cute! And ther one with the sphere. And the one in the corner! Ahh, I love them all. Though that one in the bottom corner does need to be just that little bit further on the page. *favs*

These guys are beautiful, really well designed - I love them! They look both elegant and tough at the same time. I know you originally only intended them to be anthropomorphic depictions of your triop pets, but to me they look like a brilliant creature concept for a sci-fi film!

Aren't they though? I'd love to watch a film with triops people in! Thank you for the comment Mai!

That's friggin awesome. YAY, cool anthros! not your crappy dog or cat anthros that are everywhere!!!!
But anyway, Great job, at first I was lookin at the title like what in the monkeys and then I was like OH I know what those are. Those are really cool.
I like the flow of motion, tho I think you should've put the one in the corner farther on the page. He kinda stop the motion alittle too soon, he should have been behind the one with the ball just to keep the eye moving. And not to mention he doesn't seem to be in the actual game, he looks more like a side lines cheerleader whose just popped into the onlooker's veiw. Maybe getting his tail up behind him like he just made a quick turn will bring the eye movement back.
But none the less a very cool concept! :w00T:

Thank you for the crit! Yes, I agree with you, the one down the bottom is sorta static. Maybe there's another one grabbing his tail so he can't go further forward.
Thank you Shadow!
