The other critters listen to his wails
And stare at him as though he were a loon.
He gazed at her, who sat above the dales.
"I love you, Moon! I love you..." howled the loup.
The other critters laughed and hissed at he
Until their furry faces turned a-blue.
"The moon could never love a wretch like thee!"
The lovesick wolf ignored their nasty jeers.
The moon, she gazed back, wishing they were peers.
