I love this character of yours. It is rare to have mermaid designs with complicated patterns on their tails, or with warm colors - Scott has both !
And the contrast between her casual stances and clothes vs her being a mermaid is striking.
In this picture, her posture is interesting because it keeps that casual feeling while still evocating a pattern, a design, because of the angle and symmetry.

Why thank you!
Yeah, I wanted Scott to stand out from the ocean of other mermaids people draw, and so far she stands out a lot. It also helps that she hates swimming... and is accompanied by Rio most of the time.

Interesting pose. It must have been a little hard to do though

It was. I am going to give in another try sometime later because I can see where I can improve.

Did I mention I really like the design of the tail? It's great to see it return because it's so different, so immediately recognizable, like a 'signature'. Awesome. ^^

No you did not. Believe me, I checked.
And thank you. Well, it is a pain in the butt and almost not worth it, but I like it.

I know where you're coming from.
I make comics and tend to draw pretty simple clothing on my characters, because it's easier to draw. Especially in different poses, angles and sizes it can become difficult to get the positioning, detail and distances(proportions) right. You need to have a good picture in your head, or rules of thumb to get it right each time.
Maybe you say it's almost not worth it, but I think it is. This makes your mermaid girl stand out. Unique. It's a very clear and awesome signature. Without it she would be just any other mermaid, drowning in the sea of mermaid pictures floating around here. She stands out. That's important!
Keep up the beautiful works!

Thank you. And making Scott stand out is one of my goals
(... and if I accomplish my goals, Scott will be the most recognizable mermaid on the internet! and I will rule the world )
