speaking oocThey are not. The fandom needs to calm the fuck down about it, alright? Sure, Himaruya gave them that personality. Arthur Kirkland can be called "tsundere" to an extent. Lovino Vargas can. Lukas Niels Bondevik can.
But Norway, the United Kingdom, and Italy cannot.
I know I'm going to get hate messages for this but people need to understand.
UK : Do you think Arthur Kirkland stands for a blushy, "uke"? Or some sadistic pirate that people think is sexy? No. This supposed "tsundere" single handedly owned the world's land, trade, money and greatest army back in its time. And even today it has the world's best navy. The 2012 Olympics are being held in London. He is going to be proud of his country, not be used as a sex icon. Just think about it for a second. "England" is incredibly popular in Hetalia and everyone knows it. The Revolutionary War is turned into a romantic connection for USUK shippers. The pirate age is turned into a daring, sexy adventure for UK x WORLD shippers. I understand where you all come from, as I myself ship these characters with other 'countries'. But please, abusing the character design is ridiculous.
Norway : A nordic country that derived from vikings. For god's sake, he is pokerfaced all of the time for a reason. His country has been through so much and yet this character is turned into another sex icon. Lukas' world is not, in fact, full of DenNor and SuNor and NorIce. Or whatever else you all ship him with. He is still representing a great country and we, including I, need to remember that.
South Italy : As a roleplayer of South Italy, i.e Lovino Vargas, I find it really awkward when people ask me questions about "Spain" and "Prussia". Yes, his character is tsundere, probably the most out of all of them. But he has flaws too; not just character wise. I believe that Himaruya made his character so flawed because the area has been through so much. The Roman Empire, and being conquered and conquered again and again by its surrounding countries. Not only that but it has considerably bad neighbourhoods within it, due to the mafia. Yes, the mafia is still real. Lovino Vargas is not just some sexy mafioso that is "seme" 24/7. Likewise, his character is not "uke". If you want an anime like that, Hetalia is not really right for you.
Guys, this is a comedy, satiric show about WW2 and countries. It's a fun history joke that everyone can enjoy. It is not full of shipping wars and flamming because of events that happened character and country wise. Please, keep it light hearted and keep in mind that you could be offending other people by "being" a country.
Standing ovation for those who read through this whole thing.

I kinda agree actually but that's why I like the group so much, cause each of them has been through anoth shit (sorry for fellow British people but admit it England's been through a lot of shit lately) to forum a group and become friends/ allies (I don't know weather they are in real life or not)

Actually Himaruya-san himself has described UK as tsundere, and to put it in his words he "is cynical but hides a deep romantic heart," which is the very definition of tsundere (Japanese speaker here).
Your statement "If you want an anime like that, Hetalia is not really right for you" is a ridiculous, pompous statement. The beauty of Hetalia is that the manga-ka wrote it so all the shipping and fandoms could and do exist. He wrote it to be enjoyed as the reader chooses to enjoy it.
It's fine to espouse your view of why you like the manga, but don't tell others how they should and should not enjoy it. It's full of shipping wars and flaming if the fanbase WANTS it to be full of such.
And furthermore, everyone gets offended by everything. I don't think Himaruya-san gives a toss whether or not his personifications are offensive. If someone gets offended because "NOO SOMEONE IS IMPERSONATING MY COUNTRY AND THEY ARE IMPERSONATING IT ALL WRONG" they need to rethink their lives.

((I totally agree. It sucks that someone's own country is being turned into some kind of *** symbol and being whatever the fans want them to be. Personally, I think the fandom is crazy now, with almost all the yaoi being always involved with ***. When I check the updates, there is always something on the page that is disturbing to me. Yes, these countries are depicted like this by Himaruya for a reason. All have gone through pretty scarred histories. For example, Norway was a poor country that was passed from the Kalmar Union, then Denmark, and lastly to Sweden like a ball. It must have been horrible for the Norwegians. Himaruya probably thought that he should have a poker face because he wants to hide his weaknesses from showing to prevent those events from happening again. Also, who would be happy after such bad histories?
Yes, I think it is also quite disturbing when people think the countries are hot when they are in their historical outfits. Also, some people change the outfits to make them more who-knows-what to satisfy their own... opinion, let us say. It is kind of annoying. Yes, like you said, the show is a historical comedy and not full of... unorthodox things, and people should not add those kinds of things.))

As countries, I don't think any of them are tsundere but no countries (in my opionon) are. In AU's maybe, but during historical events I cannot see them as tsunderes during things like wars/pirates/vikings ...
While all the countries are attractive, going "OMG THEIR SOOOOOOOO SEXY I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!1!1 I'D TOTALAAAAAAAAAAALLLY TAP TTHAT!!1!" is kinda ... stupid?
In AU's i.e high school AU I can see them being a bit socially awkward and grumpy but not in complete 'uke mood'. When people make my home country into a Rapist/Sex symbol/Jackass/Bully it's kinda hurtfull as none of them research our history and always make him out to be the 'bad guy'

So many people are spazzing and stuff when roleplaying now days. It's really sad actually. I mean we all have are kind of 'spazzy desu stages' but it seems that more people are staying like that. ;; I suppose that is why I try to not roleplay without looking at profiles and such as I tend to like well informed as there characters ocs or real ones.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I know what the fandom means; that the characters actually are tsundere and I understand that but they don't have to shove it in the face of roleplayers, fanfiction writers, and cosplayers because that's practically shoving it into Himaruya himself.
