Very cool! Not sure why, but it kinda reminds me of "The Amazing Spider-Man" (the way Peter Parker looked in the movie).

I actually liked that one better than the Sam Raimi one (which I now look at that one as being the 1989 Batman of the franchise).

I liked it for more for some reasons, and less for others. I thought visually it was a big improvement, it had a lot of great action sequences and I really liked this new Peter Parker.. I wasn't a huge fan of Tobey Maguire. This wrang more true to the Spider-man comics I read and enjoyed as a kid. I also really like that with this series they're focusing part of the story on his parents. I'm sort of excited to see how they handle that. But I thought some of the emotional stuff, particularly regarding Uncle Ben, was glossed over. I understand why they did it, and I think maybe the original movie dwelt on it a little bit too long.. but it seemed to lack some of the heart that Raimi had.
I'll have to rewatch the first two movies and see how they fare, just for old time's sake.. I haven't seen them in years. I just remember I hated the third movie with a passion, haha.

Yeah, they did kinda run by Uncle Ben's emotional role quickly, but I liked Sally Field's Aunt May the best; she really nailed the maternal guardian much better than the borderline grandma one from the Raimi films (I know she and Ben are old in the comic, but they looked more like his grandparents). Oh, the third movie sucked, 'nuff said! Although, if I could point out ONE thing I liked from that one, it'd have to be Thomas Haden Church as the Sandman (he looked exactly like the character in the comics, and I liked how he was sort of a tragic supervillain).

I agree - they were way too old, haha. I liked Rosemary Harris, but yeah, Field I think nailed it.

And yes.. Church was the ONE redeeming factor of that movie, he had a wonderful performance.. it's a shame it was such a shitty movie, haha.. I honestly think if they had focused the film on him as the main antagonist and done away with the entire Venom/black suit storyline it could have had some potential.

Definitely- although, when we first watched it, my bro-in-law and I couldn't stop making "Forrest Gump" jokes. "Run, Spidey, run!"

Yeah, real shame (he's one of my favorite actors, too). Oh, don't get me started on that Venom. I don't even care for Topher Grace- and that's one of the major nitpicks that make me grit my teeth
