Tygressa isn't magic, I just wanted to make a sort of pretty bubble thing and that's what came out. I had a reason for it but I forgot.

Tygressa's markings

They are sort of a blue; they're slightly green-tinged if you look at the raw color, but are mostly blue. In these panels it's a bit hard to see because of the lighting.

Ooh, the suspense is building. Tygressa would make a good dragon lawyer (lol) or social justive advocate with such passion and a strong way with words.

I just realised from the ref sheets that Ruskaer is male and Tygressa is female...I thought it was the other way around for some reason, like Kither and Iyress. D'oh! XD Perhaps I'm used to seeing size differences having the larger one as the male, or something.

Yeah, she's quite the radical there!

Yeah, it's like that within each race but Longwings are just generally larger than Sparkclaws. Also, for future reference, there are visual cues for the difference between male and female. For Sparkclaws, a female will have no nose horns, but a male has them. Also a female never has more than 4 horns in total on her head. For Longwings, a female's frill doesn't go up over the top of her head like a male's does, and she also will have the frills on the side of her head. Males don't have that. And sometimes a female longwing's horns are a bit more wavy than the male's, but not always. ^^

Yes, quite the dissident indeed.

Ah right, so there's some sexual dimorphism present, with horn and frill details... the Sparkclaw nose horn one and the Longwing frill thing is easy enough to remember. So by that rule of thumb about frills, I guess the green-patterned royal would be female, with the golden-patterned one being the male... can't see too much difference in horn waviness in this particular case. Does the coloured patterns and stripes on Longwings indicate anything about sex as well, or is it just a genetic thing inherited from parents or randomly born with?

Also, about Ruskaer's passiveness on this page... is it a feature or personality trait that only he generally has, or is it characteristic of many Sparkclaws (and perhaps Longwings who may not necessarily agree with current rules but are otherwise apathetic) in society? I'm just wondering, as I'm aware that in cities/countries where high levels of violence, war atrocities and misjustice occur regularly over a long period, the local population may become kinda inured or accustomed to it to a degree, not reacting as strongly as people in more civil countries to a report of some horrible crime because it happens so often and they become a bit 'used to it' (although not always, like the Dehli gang rape protests in 2012).

The stripes and patterns are random usually but they look similar to their parents in one way or another. The eye markings, however, are 100% identical between each and every Longwing, and are used as an identification measure like fingerprints. And the waviness isn't shown in this case because it doesn't always happen, and usually when a male has wavy horns he can be made fun of for being girly and vice versa, but of course since they're the king and queen that didn't exactly happen.

It's just his personality though in general Sparkclaws are more submissive considering they're physically inferior than the Longwings (or at least believe they are) and also a lower class, kind of like how a bum on the street may feel inferior to someone who is wearing a buisiness suit with a briefcase. ^^ Also you're pretty right with the violence measure, as Longwings and Sparkclaws have all seen or at least have had knowledge of what happens to crossbreeds and people who disobey the law, and so violence is pretty commonplace for lawbreakers. However extreme violence, like ripping a head off or something, would definitely get a reaction, of course.
