Description
Yaaaay! Finally done with this! I'm extremely excited to finally show the male version of Nostra!(BTW you can fine the female version here)
A bit of backstory on Nostra... He was a Devil Lord in the underworld and a very well respected 'General' there. However, for mysterious reasons known only to him, he betrayed Lucifer and fled the underworld. Lucifer sent his hellhound, Helene to retrieve him. Not everything went as accordingly to plan, though. Nostra and Helene fell in love.
In a fit of jealously (Lucifer loved Helene too), Lucifer ordered the assassination of Helene. For his treachery (and not to mention, for stealing Helene's heart), Lucifer cursed Nostra to live an eternal life as a human until the world ended.
*pauses-breathes-continues*
So that about covers the basic backstory of Nostra. There's a lot more to him but I'll spare you guys from more reading, lol. In any account, I'm so thrilled this piece was completed in time for Otakon and San Japan! I'd like to sell the original painting at Otakon or Dragoncon. However, I'm also thinking of making a canvas print of this since that'll bypass the whole matting deal
While creating this piece, I listened to this song a LOT. Definitely suits the vibe.

This is soo awsome, just, amazing. I was wondering how large the original was (how small the details were when to did them, lolz)

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to check this piece out. As for your questions, the piece is a little over 18x24 and was created with watercolors, watercolor pencils (to capture the small details), and liquid acrylic ink. Hope this helps!

I have to say the song really does match his backstory. I can't believe I've been missing all this sweet artwork. :shakes fist at Nursing school: I love the movement in this and how my eyes go from the rose to Nostra to the demon. Also I so love the way you made this look like a watercolor painting. Now excuse me, I'm going to go look in your gallery to see what I have missed.

If I were to gamble, I think DragonCon might fetch you a better price for the original....

I definitely want to take the original with me. oAo However, several factors have led me to go down the limited-edition canvas print route. Mainly, it was transportation of the work.
The painting (with mat included) surpasses the size of my luggage. If I were flying with Southwest then I could've easily created a large box to hold the piece and have that be one of my free checked-in 'baggages'. Unfortunately, SW doesn't fly there. The only flights that go there *charge* for luggages, are extremely picky with dimensions of said luggage, and are EXPENSIVE if you surpass those dimensions.
Mailing the piece to the hotel might be a good alternative. Yet, that too is expensive. Not only would I worry if the piece arrived in time (and intact, lol), but if I don't sell the piece at the convention then I'd have to pay MORE money to ship it back in one place.
All in all, it seems more practical (and financially sound for me in the long run) to sell limited edition canvas prints at art shows. They're awesome looking, limited, and I can size them to fit in my luggage. As for the original work, it may mean I have to sell them at TX cons since I travel through vehicle with those

Aw. I had no idea it was so huge! Yeah- that definitely makes it very hard to deal with. And transporting art via plane is expensive and nervewracking. Shipping also... eh. Perhaps you should just hold it then for a while (and perhaps look at local galleries?)
BTW - when are you arriving for Dragoncon? I am going to be gone for part of that weekend, so wanted to see if I could take you two out for dinner maybe Thursdsay or Friday evening...

Weeeeh, I'm still sad I didn't get to talk as much to you, Hope, and the others during Expo. ;__; It seems whenever you guys came to see me business picked up. O_o Maybe you guys should come to every convention I go to, then; you guys apparently bring a lot of luck with ya'll, lol!

lol Well, I am very glad that business picked up for you. It was nice to see you doing well! I wish I had had more money to get art, but I spent most of it on my brothers. I always end up getting more for other people at cons. I WILL ONE DAY BUY YOUR WHOLE TABLE. I am sad we didn't get to say hello to Cari but she seemed very busy as well, I hate impeding business for artists at a con, I helped a friend of mine once and I know AX can be kind of slow sometimes. Actually, I believe that friend of mine had Cari find her a room for Otakon recently! It is a small world!
Anyway, I will be watching for you next con we might both be at!

Thanks so much for this comment! *__* I'm glad you dig the colors! I've been experimenting with the process of layering lately, using one color at a time and build in depth.
