Calculating lights and shadows ain't easy. That why they made 3D render programs.

for me it's a matter of imagination
it's pretty simple when you use lines from light source and imagine depth and 3D shape of objects
put lines at the edge of objects that will create shadow
maybe shape is easy but brightness for me is real mistery
