Description
-It loomed over me as I passed though the high stone arch, appearing to glare menacingly down at me from it's perch. The creature's skeletal tail was wrapped around one of the thick stone pillars that supported the arch, the coil of bone tipped with a wicked sting. It's face was obscured by rotten bandages, and the only feature that was visible was a pair of curving horns...

Well, I promised you a creature, didn't I? Well here's the first!
This is an Absolver Sentry, a magically created creature used to guard doorways or gates. They're about twenty feet from heat to tail tip. They're quite large, with each vertebrae being about the size of a human skull, maybe a bit smaller. They wrap their tail around a pillar, usually beside the door, and just hover there with their massive arms folded across their chests, intimidating anyone who draws near. They never stray far from their stone pillars because their tails are not suited for locomotion. Their stingers are pretty much ineffective because they have to use their tail to anchor themselves to the pillar. The only true 'living' part of them is their head, which is always wrapped in cloth bandages, usually having a couple of horns poking out. Their arms are extremely strong, and can easily rip apart anything that gets within their reach. Their bones are held together by strands of energy. Without these, the head would have no control over the body and the Absolver would just fall apart. The magical bonds are relatively elastic, and because of this, the Absolver tan extend it's limbs from it's joints several feet, further increasing it's reach. Razor sharp claws made of bone tip it's fingers, and these too can be flung forward on the bonds, making them deadly weapons.
I changed the arms from fleshy and muscular to huge and skeletal, mainly because I didn't like the way they turned out. I don't know if I'm totally happy with the ribcage, and it looks kinda empty without a background. May go in later and change it.

very good I like how you got the dimensionality of the ribcage but studying anatomy for many years I'd like to make one critique
even if this creature doesn't have muscle to move with I'd suggest you'd put in a collar bone and scapula.
the reason for this is the scapula is a floating bone that helps with the rotation of the arms [link]
the reason for the collar bone is to show some to anchor the arm sockets in place [link]
I just think this would make the creature seem more together

no problem and if you have any anatomy questions I'll answer them as best as I can
