Dembe and I have been talking about these characters forever, I admit I totally forgot about it recently. *shame*

Anyway, the mare is my Mahican, and the foal is ~Dembe 's Kashual. I think I remember saying I would design both of them, so I went on ahead, feel free to tweak the little guy to your heart's content.

Mahican is an interesting character in that she's really polarized. On one hand, she's a maniac warrior, on the other hand, she's an amazingly attentive, loving, responsible mother to her little Kashual. She's a classic Indian Paint pony, which is why she was the star of a traveling old west show (which is actually where she learned a lot of her crazy, stunt-like battle moves.) More on her later!

Kashual's not even born yet in the story, not to mention Coal has full reign over that char, so I got no info on him. :B He's cute though, right?

On another note, paints are SO hard to shading with my shading style, I've developed an entirely different method specifically for paint horses. D:> It looks more or less the same though, which is good. You might've noticed I've been experimenting with the absence of eyebrows in a few of my recent pictures. I like the expressiveness eyebrows allow, but I really hate the spirit knockoff vibe people seem to get sometimes, which is really not the case. Sure, love the movie, I was inspired by it, but I certainly don't use it for reference anymore. Nor do I look to it for style, don't laughsnort at me, it's true. That's the point, actually, I'm trying to break the vicious cycle! I'm enjoying messing with it, lemme know when I do something you like.

(Since this is a cutesy picture, this is so going to be hunted down by people on polish blogs and so on, keep an eyeout for it, if you can!)
