Description
Kind of a counter-stamp to this: [link]Let's face it: there's a lot stupider things to devote your whole life to than God, just look at 90% of deviantART. At least the God-devout are focused on something other/better/more than just themselves.
Well, the few who are doing it right, anyway.

I love videogames as much as the next person, but ever since the new Skyward Sword came out, a lot of my friends have been too busy obsessing over beating the game. I only got to the third temple before I decided I wasn't going to waste my entire winter break on it. I got so tired of people asking me/bragging to me about beating it that I would just say, "No I haven't beaten it, I'm too busy doing other things like drawing and hanging out with me friends. Do I care that you wasted your entire break over a measly game? No."

Is it just me or does the artist who created the stamp you made a link to sound like a hate-filled person in his Artist's Comments?

Um, not really. It's not really any worse than dedicating your entire life to God. And, "your boyfriend"? Come now, is that even *as bad* as devoting one's life to God much less worse?

I don't think there's anything majorly "sad" or "pathetic" about devoting your life to something, it just shows you have enthusiasm for whatever.
But, obviously, I do NOT agree with the stamp you made this as a response to.

Totally agree with you on that one, dedicating your life to doing good works isn't sad and pathetic at all. A ;ittle tolerance would be nice, that's all, you don't have to agree with it yourself, just stop stirring up hate.. for the sake of it (which I reckon is way more pathetic!)

Generally the people who criticise others for actually having something to dedicate their life to, whatever that is, have no life. I don't understand this general concept of "life" and what exactly my days are supposed to consist of when someone tells me "Stop doing X all day and get a life".
I've actually been told that by people irl, well, in a more polite manner, but still so many people were appalled by the fact that I spent all day doing art or assumed that I spent all day doing that, and it's like they were trying to help me by telling me to "get a life". Ironically the particular people who told me that didn't have any interests, hobbies or passions, didn't stand out through anything at all, and the only "life" that they had consisted of going out every weekend to the most popular club in town and getting wasted. It's also the same people who, when asked about an alternative to the sad and pathetic way in which you waste your life, will only give a generic reply like "family, friends, job", simply because they've no other ideas of what life could be. Obviously, to them family consists of dragging through a boring dinner every evening with your annoying parents and the brother that you hate, friends consist of taking photos of your shoes in a club bathroom while drunk, and job consists of flipping burgers at McDonald's so you can pay for your iPhone.
Is that "life"? Cause if it is then I'd rather dedicate my time to something sad and pathetic.

I can dedicate my life to what ever the fuck I want, and it means to me what I want it to. If I dedicate my life to fucking sandwiches and it makes me happy, I don't care what anyone else thinks. If it makes me happy its not sad or pathetic.

I admit to being overly obsessed with a few of these stated on this stamp, but as long as one is happy with "dedicating one's life" to these and not shoving their opinion down another's throat, I believe that's all that matters. Nonetheless, I did favorite this.

PinkCharmander In reply to ??? [2012-01-05 03:17:38 +0000 UTC]
There are indeed much worse things. For example, one could dedicate himself to being an atheist who shoves his beliefs in the face of every non-atheist he sees because he is insecure that he sees others getting strength from something he says does not exist.
Seriously though, atheists who shove their beliefs down people's throats are just as bad as that Jack Chick guy who says everyone who's not a fundie has an express ticket to hell.

I've noticed way more atheists doing it on deviantart than any other group, which is why I chose them as an example. Also notice that I chose a fundamentalist as the other example.

People on the internet use atheism as an excuse to be an asshole to people of other religions. I really don't care what someone believes, as long as he's not being a dick about it.

as long as you don't push it on others, that is

I think the author of the linked stamp possibly has ran into one too many "Christians" who cherry pick when it comes up to reading the bible. By cherry pick I mean reading only specific phrases and quotes out of the good book instead of reading it all the way through and not taking it at face value. Jesus talked in parables, who says God doesn't as well.
