Description This is a blonde or yellow Labrador Retriever, and at 5" by 7", it's quite small. It was part of a series of commissions that were requested for a single mat. Painting the dogs was a lot easier than cutting several holes in a pair of mats so that they'd fit together properly.
Despite their increasing popularity, I'm rarely asked to paint Labs. My most common requests are chihuahuas, black poodles and golden retrievers. I wonder why that is.

Oh, wow! Thank you so much! the lady who commissioned this brought in a great picture taken from some distance away and wanted me to paint the whole body. I had to talk her into letting me just do the face! Oh, I really love comments like yours! Thank you very much!

Oops, tricky customer eh? Some people seem to believe that artists are some kind of un-natural people, able to do anything. I feel that it's quite easy to understand them though, some artists are so good that it's easy to get fooled like that. And yeah, you could take that as a compliment if you like
Must say I feel the same about your comments, so everything is fair and well, right?
