On the forum, I was given the hint about seeing a black and white page for the fanzine. This is the illustration example I gave them.

I usually prefer to manually hand tone. However I do not have the desired screentones in my inventory to complete it. I opted to try digital manga effects in place. I found the digital screening to be frustrating and utterly time consuming having to shrink and enlarge all the tones. Therefore, those of you who want to know before hand, stick with the traditional. Digital ain't worth it. Trust me.

I deleted all the tones and started over save for the background. I changed the image into a grayscale palette, used the pattern tool and the gradiant tool to achieve a somewhat professional effect.
