Description Species: Pentaceratops styrax
Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Herbivore
Temperament(Wild): Reactive
Tameable: Yes
Rideable: Yes

Wild: In what appears to be a cross-breed of Triceratops and Styracosaurus, Pentaceratops has the three-horned face of the former, but the long epioccipital spikes of the latter. Normally a docile browser, it becomes aggressive when approached by smaller predators, and will chase down potential egg-stealers or humans without hesitation. When faced with larger predators, a lone and testosterone-filled individual tends to stand and fight, sometimes successfully intimidating even Tyrannosaurus, but members of a herd instinctively run away, leaving the weakest link in their chain to be preyed upon. At the same time, however, cases of a herd chasing down and trampling predators en masse have been reported - and when that happens, nearly every animal on the island has an overwhelming instinct to get the hell out of the way.
Domesticated: Some of the most popular single-rider mounts, along with Parasaurolophus. Their long horns, frills, and impressive threat displays make for good guarding animals, and captive-bred individuals tend to mostly ignore humans, while at the same time warding off wild predators, thus making it desirable for tribes to keep near their settlements (although not too close, as an angry Pentaceratops can easily destroy some of the more fragile structures).
Battle uses: The huge frill in Pentaceratops's head is often painted with a specific tribe's war colors, serving as a walking banner or flag. Additionally, their tendency to get more aggressive based on how far separated from their herdmates they are leads them to be most effective in surround tactics, where one animal will not hesitate to go through whatever is ahead of it in order to return to the herd. Even so, they are not the most effective war mounts, with the horns and frill having evolved primarily for display and communication, and not battles.
