Description
In my head, Clay and Calhoun had a long, drawn out and badly ending love affair and John saved all of their letters./I read too far into my history textbook

...Aww! The feelings... *sniffs* Someday I'm going to take the time to really learn Calhoun properly. I don't know nearly as much about him as I'd like to. Anyway, this is awesome. <3 these two so much.

Awww, thank you, my bro! As I said, my history otp 4 lyfe.
As for Calhoun: It all just goes to hell in a handbasket once he married Floride, his cousin, whom he very probably married because he was an impoverished but ambitious farmer/lawyer and she was filthy rich. They have ten kids, the eldest son is not particularly bright; his eldest daughter is a genius and his favorite child; and his wife is quite abusive towards him (I know, the wife being abusive, 19th cen. plot twist.)
