Description
Ankole are gods among cattle. Just LOOK at the amazing coats and horns! These two bulls were at the Southwick's Zoo in MA. There was also a cow and calf, not visible in the shot.Notice the cheek marking on the red bull. Isn't that awesome? What's depressing was, while I was shooting a series of photos of these guys, some lady came up with her kid, points and the cow, and says, "Oh look, wouldn't he make a nice rug?" Like what the fuck. First of all... cow fur rug? God, Texas-wannabe, much? And secondly, how screwed up is society when we look at an animal and can only see its utility for us instead of its inherent beauty as a living thing? Bah.

Geez. I find this so mystifying. I love these bulls' horns! They're so huge and large! They must have taken so long to grow. I love bulls and cows and buffaloes. They're all so awesome and beautiful.

"how screwed up is society when we look at an animal and can only see its utility for us instead of its inherent beauty as a living thing?" that will change as soon as we have a species that takes over our position as dominant.. and they want our hides..
and not everyone in texas likes fur :3 i personally have an axis skin on my wall that was made for me from a fallen/natural death animal... I believe that the use of skin isnt a bad thing.. especially when the animal is used properly/killed for a reason.. other than the skin.. and used completely... but the senseless slaughter just for the sole purpose of having the skin.. wastefull and mean. :3 like i said.. mind sets will change when we have a species that wants *our* hides.. as hideous as they are...
wonderful photo.. i love the horns.. ive been in love with the look of cattle horns since i saw and got to hang out with a few hundred Longhorn cattle.. Beautiful horns. I love the variations in the horn colours.. great shot.

Agreed; I have no problem with people having skins that were harvested naturally. I personally have many animal bones on collection that were found out in the woods, as well as some mummified specimins and fur from road kills.
The Texas thing... heh. Yeah, angry stereotyping in the heat of the moment. Texas actually has some of the best animal protection groups and sanctuaries out there ^^
