Description
BEST VIEWED LARGEupdated with better photo
So happy to have finally finished this one 75cm x 25cm..
Im really pleased with this in fact its one of my fav drawings i think..
Graphite mechanical pencils, Sanford Ebony dark pencil,
blu tac, kneaded eraser, electric eraser
Arches 300gm bright white hot press paper
The photo came out crooked because i was trying to reduce the glare so some of the top and bottom has been chopped off.. but it still looks okay i think... it would be nice to one day have a photo that looks more true to the original however...

Glad to have you back in dA! This is a great drawing - I especially like how it is cropped. Snow leopards are such beautiful animals and you really captured their elusive nature in your image. Great job!

Nice work!
Overall the piece is kind of bland (there is no background and no color and not even a full figure) BUT! the details in the eyes and fur make up for it by all means. and of course, I think it's even more amazing in real life, huh? This looks like a piece that was fun for you to draw, and i think that's what really counts in this whole 'art' thing

hmm yeah it must miss a bit in translation via the camera etc.. its funny im so critical of my work but this one im really happy with.. i think i like it the best out of all my drawings.. even though i know my tigers and other stuff is more popular i dont know something about this one i really like.. maybe its the size and the format..
thanks for all your comments much appreciated!

Yes, the format is very unique, and fun to work with! I had a project similar to this that never got finished, but it was very fun. and yeah, the popular ones seem to never be the ones the artist actually likes! talk about irony
You're welcome of course. any plans for your next drawing?

yeah i know lol.. oh well you have to learn to please yourself at some point why did you stop on your project?.. next up im doing a still life in pastels.. im planning to move into portraits in pastel in the future so im learning how to use them by doing some still lifes first..
I'm thinking of doing a small scale colour pencil as well.. but im not sure what yet..

ah well it was back in high school and the photos I was using I had edited with photoshop, done some kind of effect on it, and it proved rather hard to drawn like I wanted it or saw it. but it had three sets of eyes matted together. it would have been fairly cool
Are you using chalk pastels or oil pastels?
portraits are fun! I have such hard time with faces though and I need to do a colored pencil drawing again. It used to be my favorite medium, now pastels I probably like better now
oh wells

This is incredible! I love it, you've captured this animal's eyes to perfection. It looks like the cat's looking in through a narrow slot between boards... so true and so beautiful.

Also that would make a good bookmark, if you get permission from the photographer you should sell it as a bookmark
