Description ---WARNING  LONG READ AHEAD---

Hey there guys. Well i wanted to get more involved with memes and I thought this one would be a nice one to start off with for the year. As artists, we all have people/things that inspire us and I especially have inspirations myself.

Disney ~ Yes, Disney influenced me heavily and is one of the early things that made me want to pick up a pencil and start drawing at an early age. Even to this day, Disney heavily influences me and I'm trying to have that show in my personal style. What i really love about Disney (and what i hope to incorporate into my style) is how they draw eyes/faces/head shapes, simplified bodies, and of course, their animals. I especiallu love how they distinguish races. From the oriental/asian inspired Mulan, European Jane (Tarzan), and so on. I just love that so much about them. I really wish they still made 2D animated movies. I'm not dissing on their CGI ones, they're great too but the traditional ones hold a special place in my heart and I think no matter how old the movies are, I'm always going to be inspired by them. I really couldn't limit myself to one Disney character artist as honestly, I love all of them. And why Tarzan for my example? Well, he was one of my Disney hunk crushes so why not?
Traditional / 2D Animation ~ Along with Disney, I was inspired with all the Traditional animation that went on during the 80s & 90s. From Don Bluth to 20th Century Fox. They all inspired me. Ferngully, Anastasia, All dogs go to Heaven, and so on, they all hold a special place and they inspire me every day I think about them. Heck, there are still some movies I haven't seen that I really need to check out. I don't look at these as "Disney knock-offs". True, they have similarities but they have small things that differentiate them. Like Disney, I mostly just love how they stylize their humans and animals and would like to throw in some of that into my own style someday.
Dark Inspired ~ Yep, things considered "dark" influence a part of me and my art. I have had an interest in things considered dark since I was about 9. I really loved Gothic inspired Castles, manors, roses, vampires, and skeletons/bats. I think dark things don't always have to be evil. Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas definitely showed this, especially to children. However, I also loved Corpse Bride as well haha. But yeah, the bottom line is dark things are awesome to me. (For the record though, I am NOT a big fan of over the top gore lol).
Stevn E. Gordon ~ The character designer behind a whole bunch of superhero movies, most prominently, X-Men Evolution. As a kid in the 90s, while I did watch a little of the original X-Men (I remember I used to get Jean and Rogue's names mixed up lol), I really fell in love with X-Men Evolution. I remember always getting up early in the morning just to watch it with my brother. The animation was very well done in my opinion, but I especially loved the character designs. Needless to say, when I got my own laptop and found out who the character designer was,  I filled with glee and looked at all his sketches. I just really love how simplified his anatomy and faces looked yet still were quite eye gazing.
Anthro Characters ~ Anthros were very big during the late 80s and throughout the 90s, so could you blame me here? lol Yes, I love anthro characters and even when I was a kid, I loved them. Unfortunately, I missed out on shows like Road Rovers, Biker Mice from Mars, & Cowboys of Moo Mesa and the only anthro related shows I remember being a part of were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gargoyles, Chip n Dale, Mickey Mouse, and Sonic the Hedgehog. And a few years ago, I finally watched (and loved lol) Biker mice from Mars and Road Rovers. Still need to watch Cowboys of Mesa though. In terms of style, I probably do lean a little bit more towards the 90s (What? Most of the characters were muscle bound, don't judge me! xD) but I do appreciate the newer ones as well like the Thundercats remake. Anyway, I can't really think of a reason on why I'm so fascinated by them but I'd be lying if I said they aren't a big impact on me. To those spouting bestiality, I think they forget that the three things that separates these characters from real animals is that they have emotions, human-esq figures, and can speak human. For those who know, I'm not ashamed of having anthro character crushes. It doesn't mean I want to go out and mate with a real animal lol. Anyway, that's that.
Warner Brothers ~ As a kid, I grew up on WB cartoons from Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky & The Brain, and Freakazoid. KidsWB was my home channel as a kid. Of course, the art style on these cartoons were awesome in my opinion. Simple, but awesome. I especially loved how they drew big expressive eyes. Even now, the art style still inspires me. I'm sad that they don't make any cartoons anymore. But hey? We still have Youtube to watch the amazing gems from the  time.
Bruce Timm ~ Since KidsWB was my main channel as a kid, of course I got to grow up with a few superhero shows like Batman The Animated series, Batman Beyond, Superman, Static Shock, and Justice League. The thing i really like about Timm's style is how he draw simply yet you can see range of emotion/personality in the characters (I.E Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn). I also like how he draws female characters but that's just personal taste. All in all, very fun style he has. And yes, I had to use Robin for my example. I had the biggest crush on him when I was a kid lol
Takuji Kawano ~ When it comes to video game concept art, Takuji Kawano is definitely one of my all time favorites. He's best known for doing the character designs for the Soul Calibur series but he's also done some work for Tekken and some of the Namco crossover games. I really love how he puts so many details into clothing and can love how he stylizes faces with 50/50 (anime and realism). I'm not very much into anime styles these days but Takuji Kawano will always be an exception. Also to mention, I do like a bit of Tetsuya Nomura's art as well.
Platform Game Characters ~ Video games have always been a passion of mine since I was a kid. My first console was the PS1 and my first two games were Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. To this day, they hold lots of nostalgia value and of course, my list has expanded with other characters like Ratchet, Jak, and Sly and of course, Nintendo Characters along with Sonic (I couldn't fit them in the picture sadly). Anyway, as some of my watchers know, I'd love to get into the video game industry and bring back Platform games. They really are rare these days and that's a shame. My OC character Gunther, is pretty much my main character who I'd love to turn into a Platform game hero someday. Nevertheless, Platform game heroes are a big inspiration to me.

And now for some of my all time favorite artists.
~ To me, he's a very big inspiration. I really love his cartoon style. It's like a mix of 90s cartoon, slight anime, and of course, a twist of his own flair. It's just hard for me not to like his art. In fact, his work inspired me majorly when  I was going through my big art block in 2011. I came across his page around that time and was blown away by his work and gave me all new perspective. I just enjoy his work from his own OCs who I swear, could have their own television series, to his fan art. What do I enjoy the most about his work? Well, I love how he does expressions (especially eyes), anatomy, and poses. Honestly dude, you rock and I wish you the best with whatever you decide to do in the future.
~ I honestly discovered her towards the end of last year and oh my god, is she great. Her style.. Just wow. It' gives me a sort of Diseny / Don Bluth type of look with of course, her own flair all her own. Her work inspires me heavily. Unfortunately, I haven't read a lot about her characters but I plan to when I have more time. So what do I love about her style? I'm really into the way she draws faces/head shapes, anatomy, and backgrounds. Also, she's a very nice person (at least from what I've seen). She recently graduated from Law school and well, looks like I can call someone a "Lawyrist"! Lawyer by day, artist by night lol. Jokes aside, she's truly awesome and I highly recommend you check her out.
~ I've watched her for years and seen how much she's improved and even then, she was a great artist in my opinion. I discovered her around 2008 when she was drawing Jak related fan art as well as a few of her own characters. I love how she has a sort of dark style but yet, it's cute at the same time. Her OC Weejay is a good example of this. I just can't get enough of her cartoon style and I can so picture her making great creepy videogames. So what do I like most about her work? Expressions, ecstatic poses, creature designs, and soft coloring style. She's truly one of a kind in my book and I definitely recommend checking her out.
~ Another artist who i discovered in 2011 when  I was going through my art block depression. Along with , I came across Mr. David Kawena's work and oh my lord, is he truly something. I discovered his "Disney Heroes" project and of course while I was in full blush mode, I admired how beautiful lythey were crafted. Also, he mimics the Disney style quite perfectly. But while his Disney inspired works did draw me in, this man has a very intricate style of realism. Honestly, i'm not the biggest fan of realism but there's just something about his that I can't help but admire. So what do I like and get inspiration from? His mimic style of Disney, anatomy, faces, and rich coloring (most prominent on his Disney Heroes). Seriously, if you haven't seen his Disney Heroes collection, look at them NOW and you'll see what I mean. He also seems like a nice guy.
~ When it comes to anthro artist, Adam Wan was definitely one of the first I ever discovered (like a lot of others). This guy's style is just.. Wow. It reminds me of Disney in a way and he would be quite a good character designer for a anthro cartoon I think but even his human work looks nice too. Yes, he does do adult art but he also does clean and his clean work looks very nice. I'm not a prude though. Anyway, I admire his attention to detail and coloring a lot. Some of the backgrounds in his pictures look breathtaking and he really has a keen eye. So what do I like and get inspiration from? His faces/head shapes/eyes, anatomy, and backgrounds. Seriously Mr. Wan, you are wicked talented in my opinion and I'm sure you will go far in the art world.
~ Ziude is truly one of a kind as well. His art inspired me to progress more with my own anthro-related work during my art block depression. His style is very reminiscent of traditionally drawn animation from the 90s in my opinion and like I mentioned with a few others here, I could see him being a character designer for an animation department. And of course, he has some very lovable characters like Blake the Dog (I enjoy his comics involving him haha). So what do I like and get inspiration from?  Muscled anatomy ,faces, and shading. He's also has a nice sense of humor and is very nice. Ziude, you are definitely a big inspiration and sometimes, I do think you are a little too modest with your work. You rock dude. And I recommend people to go check him out.
~ He is another early anthro artist I discovered. In fact, he's the second anthro artist I discovered after . His style definitely has a 90s cartoon look and of course, that draws me in. He mostly specializes in muscle art and I used to not like hyper muscle art. It just didn't interest me however, Cooner's work doesn't bother me at all. I think it's because he makes his muscles look more bulgy and cartoonish instead of hyper veiny. So Cooner gave me appreciation for cartoon hyper muscle. So what do I like and get inspiration from? His bulgy muscle anatomy and faces are what draw me in. His coloring is quite nice too. I wish him the best with whatever he decides to do in the future but it's always a delight to see what he's come up with.
~ I've been a fan of Serp for a long time. Like a few others, I discovered him from his Crash Bandicoot fan art. I really loved his take  on the character and his friends/enemies but his own original work was quite great as well. I got to see him improve and well, he has a very interesting anthro style. I could see him doing some rather funny Adult swim type anthro cartoon series haha. Anyway, what do I like and inspires me? His faces and anatomy mostly. I'm not sure what he's up to these days but I wish him the best.

And well, there you have my top influences. I hope you all enjoyed and i'm sorry for the long read. Anyway, stay tuned for some more work coming soon!
