Really though, this is heart-wrenchingly beautiful. It's clear that enough time's gone by that he's not exactly 'mourning' at this point but rather keeping a vigil. A promise never to forget. 
Amazing work... Though I still think a harem pic wouldn't be a nice way to balance the mood-whiplash.
