wow! That is all I have to say about this one. It seriously brought tears to my eyes! Even months after DH came out a fantastic piece of art can still make me tear up. I am still emotional about that part. Super job on your painting!

It's BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I love the contrast between red and all the other dark colors you've used!!! And I like the way the red light reflects on the sword, his hands...

I love the colour red, and I use it as much as I can 
I wanted the world around him to look very cold...To show his loneliness..But I also wanted to show his "Light (or Good) Side" That's the reason why I made his magic red, to connect him with the sword of Gryffindor. I mean, he is one of the bravest characters in HP.
On the outside he is dark and cold, but on the inside...well..he's red

beautiful - do you mind if I ask how you got the jewel in the hilt so . . . jewelly? It really pops with a liquid quality. The more I look @ this the more I am fallilng in love with it

I painted a black foundation/background, then I added a "brown-red" colour, but not over the hole jewel (as you probably can see)
Then I added a lighter red inside the "brown", and then a took the lightest red I could find, that wasn't orange, as a highlight...
It's quite easy actually

Yeah - it really shows well, when I download it, the light red actually flattens out, it's so intense
