Well, hearing this may have given people that dislike the localization group that localized Fates more then they already did.

Well to be fair from what I've read the script of Fates in Japanese seemed to be a mess in some ways. I does not help however that the artbook and it's informations came out well a few years after Fates was released worldwide so the localization team might not have gotten that piece of info at the time perhaps.Β Β

That figures, and also sad that it ended up happening like that with Corrin and Azura. I do wonder if the artbook would get released over here like how Awakenings has, and how they are going to explain themselves with... that in mind.
If anything I would say that the story if it got not only a better localization but also written differently, then maybe it could have been better then Awakening. The only thing that is true is that the gameplay got improved and the support wasn't completely broken.

Looking into it, it seems to be a retcon. Mikoto and Arete are "sisters in spirit", but are really distantly related. Corrin and Azura are both directly related to Vallite royalty, but are distant cousins, so it's technically not incest.
