Description During febuary the 7th 1948, the SDECE's bureau of outside interventions sent two of his agents to the French concession of Shanghai for a tricky mission.
It's goal was to protect an ancient chinese artifact kept in Mr Wang's private collection from being stolen by an occult group of the chinese communist army.
This ancient chalice was according to the legend, a way for the one who drinks in an ancient source located in Tibet with this sacred cup, to get the power of the fire dragon, which means superhuman strengh, fast regeneration, improved refexes, and pyrokinesis.
Such a fearsome power in the hands of an unidentified communist leader in this begginings of Cold War and in the twilight of the second Chinese civil war would be a disaster for the western powers who are trying to ward off communism.
And as Mr Wang is a GuoMingDang partisan and a partner in French business all over the concession, he decided to call the SDECE for help.

Oui jusqu'en 1949, lorsque les communistes ont prit le pouvoir et ont décidé que tout ce qui était occidental était à bannir!

Looking at this, I can understand why some people might possibly believe that the red panda and the raccoon are related species.  Between the generally similar facial features and the rings on the tail, they could pass of first or second cousins.

BTW, I really like the outfit you've got the raccoon in; it looks great.  The facial expressions fit the theme of the drawing as well.

And that is why they are husband and wife! ^^

I am glad you like Louis' suit, I wanted him to wear something that looks both western and eastern, so I put him in a mourning coat with red vest with chinese dragons on it!
So he looks like a gentilhomme in China!

MviluUatusun In reply to RaynalJacquemin [2016-03-13 22:57:51 +0000 UTC]

The suit most definitely does befit a Westerner in China, although, for some reason, I always picture a Westerner wearing a white coat in China; I don't know why.  Maybe that came from a movie, I'm not sure.  The fact that the wife, a red panda, is wearing a somewhat traditional Chinese dress also lends credence to the story line you're depicting here.

RaynalJacquemin In reply to MviluUatusun [2016-03-14 08:06:40 +0000 UTC]

Actually as they are both French spies on a mission in China, I am glad that these suits fit this situation!
But by white coat, you mean a white mourning coat, froak coat, felt coat of something like that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MviluUatusun In reply to RaynalJacquemin [2016-03-14 22:00:37 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure, actually.  I want to say a white tuxedo coat; but I could be wrong.  What I see in my mind's eye is James Bond (Sean Connery) in a white coat at a party or gambling establishment.  I remember seeing him in a movie that had him in Hong Kong and he was wearing a white coat of some kind.

Ah, so she's French also.  Okay.  I thought that since she's a red panda and red pandas are native to China, she had to be Chinese.  Thanks for the clarification.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RaynalJacquemin In reply to MviluUatusun [2016-03-16 21:15:44 +0000 UTC]

I think that if she was Chinese, she would have smaller eyes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MviluUatusun In reply to RaynalJacquemin [2016-03-16 23:26:57 +0000 UTC]

Okay.  I'll accept that.  Also, I believe her eyes would be a bit more oval.  But, it's been a while since I actually saw a Chinese woman.

MviluUatusun In reply to RaynalJacquemin [2016-03-17 08:56:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.  I tried to remember almond shaped but my writer's mind went completely blank.  All I could think of is it's an oval shaped nut.  So, I just said oval.
