Well, you could do it that way, my girlfriend drew the icon in paint (she now does them in sai then sends them to me)

But I can only get them the right size and the timing the way I want it, when I use gimp.

Just remember, try to be original, 

a lot of artists get upset when people try to under-sell them with knock-off icons |D
