I entered *XXMCR-DevotedXX 's "Big Contest". The word I got was "Poison." (Read about it here: [link] )

I instantly thought of the Patient pumped up on morphine. It's interesting how these little coincidences work. Though they don't partiuclarly represent the person I am now (even though I still love most of their music,) MCR helped me through an issue that has a lot to do with the theme of "poison".

Three years ago, I became addicted to morphine while recovering from a major surgery. When I got home from the hospital, I would overdose on over-the-counter painkillers to try to get a similar effect. Later, as other less-than desirable things happened. I would try turning to self-injury and other forms of self-destruction to cope with internal issues.

A lot's happened since then and I'm a much healthier, better person. For the first time in years, I actually acknowlage just how lucky I am. I still have some issues I need to work out but I'm looking for healthier outlets for them. I've stopped taking painkillers recrationally alltogether and haven't hurt myself in several months.

I'm not sure if MCR saved my life or anything but their stories of pain, especially the Patient's story made me feel less alone.
