Description A teapot I made rather quickly trying out a different bark type. It cannot be touched, so I will not make this again. I thought it the texture turned out rather fun though, so I thought I would share it with you all.

6 buff clay body ^6 with reduction cooling.

This looks great!
Did you use a crawl glaze to get that texture, or was that made from the clay?

The bark was made from clay. It's TOO fragile, that's why I never did it again lol.

Love your avatar btw!

It's lovely! Makes a nice decoration I imagine even if it doesn't work as a teapot.

I'm glad that you like it. It is for decoration, but technically it is a functioning teapot. In ceramics, if you make a function form in a sculptural way, it should still have basic elements of that functional form (typically) So you could put liquid in this, and it would pour, but not very nicely. Just thought I'd clarify

I know it was designed as a functioning teapot, but the impression I gathered from the artist's description was that you couldn't actually use it as one because it was too fragile?

Or perhaps you have some special method of pouring tea that doesn't require touching the teapot? Me, I have to lift it every time...

"cannot be touched" because the bark is so thin a nd delicate? almost like chocolate shavings?

A beautiful piece....

yeah, if you pick it up by the vessel part the bark will break.

Thank you!
