I remember my first glass of Guinness. I didn't know better, so I treated it like American beer. It bit back. Guinness is, indeed, the beverage of moderation. Not only can you not just chug it, but once you finish a pint, the bartender will take a couple of hours waiting for the foam to settle as he pours your next one. BTW, it's not really black or even brown. Hold a glass up to the sun and you'll see that it's a lovely dark ruby.
