Please click download for the full view~!This is something I've been meaning to do for a looooooong time. For those unfamiliar, Tonta is the main Goron character from my Legend of Zelda fanfiction-in-progress, Bridges of Light.
I've never really made a good, clean, "official" reference for Tonta, despite him being my most detailed character. He's been a person who's gone through a lot of development in my head, and many, many tiny tweaks in appearance. Here are a couple of his old references just for comparison, if you're curious:

As much as I'd like to say I'm done with this ref and never want to look at it again, I'm still going to ask that if there's anything that seems awkward or off that I could fix, please let me know so I can possibly fix it! I often don't spot things until they're pointed out to me, so an opinion from a second set of eyes is always welcomed.

And I'm glad you like his design! He'd probably give you a skeptical eyebrow if you said to him that sewing can be manly, but would appreciate the sentiment regardless~

The evolution of Tonta's tattoos is interesting. 
I have always loved the angry face. I will love it forever and ever.
...There's just something about blowing things up that makes you just let go of all that stress.

You know, I never really noticed how much his tattoos have changed until you mentioned. *laugh* It's interesting that most of his changes in appearance have been due to my own style rather than anything remarkably different in design. I think the largest change on him has been the addition of black marble to his body so he'd look a bit more like he was related to Dendai, as much as he hates the fact. xD
And the angry face is win. I couldn't bear the idea of not including it. It's way too much fun to draw~!

You can definitely see the quest for improvement.
As for anything that seems off, it looks like (to me anyways) that the arm proportions are off. His right arm looks longer than his left, particularly in the upper portion (I don't know what to call that. Bicep area? Between elbow and shoulder, you know what I mean) I would also expect a head miner, especially ones that take their masculinity seriously, to have a little more beef in his upper body. Unless I'm way off base here, he'd be doing a lot of heavy lifting, right? That'd mean his pecs would have a lot more substance to them. I know Gorons are supposed to look a little chubby and exude a 'Sumo' vibe, but his upper body doesn't seem to fit his role in society.
Just my thoughts, of course. I don't know the character and this is just a ref sheet after all. I'm just sayin is all.

Ooh, I see what you're pointing out about his arm. It does seem a little too long. I'll try to pick at that later and see if I can fix that up. Thanks~!
As for his upper body, I... really don't have any good excuse for his lack of muscle up there. -w-;; *laugh* You make some very good points. I guess despite all his work in the mines, I've tended to imagine him to have a bit of Goron chubbiness that he can't seem to get rid of.
That, and well... one of his mining partners, Tuuslo (who I really wish I had a pic of right now to show ya) has pretty much all the muscle that Tonta doesn't. Tuuslo does a LOT more heavy lifting, as he loads, unloads, and transports most of the ore, while Tonta mostly handles explosives with some transporting and whatnot while he keeps an eye on everything.
Buuuut I'm just making excuses now. Excuse me for that. xD *laugh* Thank you very, very much for your feedback! It's greatly appreciated~

Your Goron designs are awesome! Mine are kinda plain, guess I stick with the OoT designs a bit more rather than Twiling Princess.

I really need to push myself to making some really decent profile sheets for those guys. I pretty much finetuned their designs to the point of being satisfied, so I have no other excuse as soon as summer vacation kicks in XD

And thanks again~ I certainly feel like I've improved, looking at what Tonta used to look like years back. I still cringe when I look at his first reference. The long legs and blah skin tone make me wonder "What in Din's name was I thinking?" xD
