yeah my first REAL painting ever, and holy christ am I happy with it ;A; I don't have much to sayyyy, other than I've tried painting before, and nothing's ever come out good at all. so basically, this came the fuck out of nowhere.
I know in a few months time I'm going to think this is the worst thing ever, but for now I'm gonna feel pretty badass about it c:
and of course, I used this picture of as a reference.
AAAAND, this is actress Zooey Deschanel, incase anyone doesn't know~

Wow, is the first word that comes to mind. Of course, there are minor details that hit upon seeing the pictures, some little things that are off, but that's expected - it's a huge picture, but it's impact is incredible, mostly by the look on the person's face.
Her eyes are the first thing that hit you; I absolutely love them! Looking down the face, the shading and lighting doesn't falter, but the lips stick out at an odd angle, slightly misplaced on her face with almost awkward tips. But her face shape and cheeks make up for it. <3 And then there's her hair, which is my favorite thing about this picture. I love the shape and the strands and the shining on it. You picked a wonderful picture to work with.
Her fingers look nice, but her palms get sort of awkward. Her arms are perfect, but her shoulders look a little off. It seems a lot of effort was put into the head and hair and such, and the torso was almost rushed. Her shirt in general looks awkward, but the lighting technique makes up for it. All in all, I really love this. <33 One of the best things in your gallery.

First off, this is only my second critique I've gotten, so I was automatically honored to have gotten one at all. so I have to throw a thank you out there just for that.
That said, I agree with everything you said, really. You pointed out the same things I like about this, and the same things I know I could've done better. I DID spend forever on her face, so by the time I got to her hands and torso, I was pretty much rushing. Patience it something I need to work on a bit with my bigger projects like this, I know, and I know it reflects in the final product. Same thing with the lips, even though I didn't rush those. I was looking at this a few days after I did it, and seriously her lips stick out the most to me and I just make a face at them XD
So yeah! I agree with you wholeheartedly on everything you said, so I think this is extremely fair. Thanks so much for taking the time to write this, it really does mean a ton to me
