Description 22/08/12 EDIT: Added Pigeon feather and slowness arrow.
06/07/12 EDIT: Edited phoenix feather and fire arrow + got rid of the other arrows.
22/03/12 EDIT: Added Diamond and Gold Arrows.
04/04/12 EDIT: Added Redstone and Ender Arrows.
Hi guys! This time, Ive decided to make the flamingo [link] and phoenix [link] feathers and the poison and flame arrows they make. The feathers are basically like chicken feathers, whilst the poison arrow poisons people, and the flame arrow causes burning. And if you guys will comment on how they look, yes they are just recoloured. I know this and you dont need to point it out.
Pigeon feathers are rare drops for a reason. The arrows cause a slowness affect for 5 minutes.

That's a lot of time for the slowness' effect. 5 min. is a lot. And I'm sure you already know that you can get bows with Fire Aspect anyway, but yeah. I'm sure you know that. But poison and slowness are very good ideas.

Thats why pigeon feathers are a rare drop. Also thank you for telling me the poison and slowness are good ideas (:3) and the fire aspect would make people think that the fire arrow is useless but when you think about it's a lot less bother to get a phoenix feather then to make an enchantment table and spend ages trying to upgrade the bow to have fire aspect.

What exactly do flamingo feathers do?

Good idea.

I have an idea, an ice producing bird(like a reversed phoenix) that's feathers (when made into arrows) cause the target to slow down.

i ike the idea of special arrows, the only problem is which arrow gets used if there is multiple types in your inventory

RedPanda7 In reply to dsajk [2012-03-31 15:53:54 +0000 UTC]

I hadn't actually thought of that. I guess that if these were added that something like the inventory would have to be created for ammo, and what ever was at the top would be used first.

if there is no special quiver gui, then this might work:
adding a quiver slot for arrows only, then from left to right in the hot bar? then a random one is picked if those slots are empty?

RedPanda7 In reply to dsajk [2012-03-31 16:07:49 +0000 UTC]

That would be brilliant

dsajk In reply to RedPanda7 [2012-04-05 11:16:59 +0000 UTC]

i just had a flash of inspiration. have a quick-select tool instead. since buttons 1-9 are used for selecting items in the hotbar, and i've never seen a mod that uses the "0" button, perhaps pressing 0 cycles through available types in your inventory, allowing you to switch arrow types quickly in combat. and there is a small icon that shows what arrow type is active, and the total. when you either use the last arrow or press 0, the game runs a check. it has a customisable "priority" list, and that indicates the cycle eg:
reg
fire
ender
poison
redstone
gold
diamond
so if you have regular arrows selected, and you press 0 or run out, it checks your inventory for "Fire" type arrows, and counts how many you have. if you have none, it checks for ender arrows, if none are found it tries to find poison arrows, then redstone jamming arrows etc. you can edit the list in-game, or via a .txt to choose the order. if you forget to add an arrow or two, they get automaticallly edited into the bottom of the list.

That would be awesome
But, I like the idea of having a quiver so that idea could be mixed with your one, meaning that you could store the arrows in the quiver and still have a prioty list and have to press 0 to change the arrow

combo idea could work, the quiver GUI stores arrows, and the 0 button selects them. how to open it is the problem. it could be built directly into the inventory, but that would cause incompatability with any mod that alters the inventory. but perhaps a seperate GUI that opens a row for say, 5-9? arrow stacks, and you use that as the priority list. use 0 to select different slots, also, what button would access it? q is often ysed for throw item, but i use it for fly mods to go up. 0 is not used very often (if at all), so it is good for quick-select, but perhaps the ~ key (between TAB and CAPS on most PCs) could work. or the unused Quiver sprite is an item that you carry in you rinventory, and is required to open (but not to use the arrows in it or the quick-select) the GUI

Or, like armour it could be placed on the player and it could use one of the keys near the movement ones (W,A,S,D) because q = throwing blocks away and e = the inventory

ranged armour! wolf pelt should provide a bonus to using a bow (+1/2 heart damage each, and decreases the random deviation applied by vanilla minecraft slightly), and a quiver is built in to it (or added as an upgrade). each piece of wolf armour (with quiver uograde, if used) gives a small resistance to arrows, and adds 2 or 3 slots to your quiver GUI, and perhaps a full set can give a special bonus, but wolves will require more bones to tame while you wear the full set (due to you practically wearing the fur of 24 wolves. would the droprate be simialr to cows? if so, it's an average of 12, not 24. a full set of armour takes 24 of a mateerial to craft)

oh, and btw, the keys near the WASD keys are used in hundreds of mods. it can be configurable, but a good default woould be handy for noobs
