Description part of the photo shoot with the sonar yen .

very ad-hoc, impromptu part of the shoot, just walking around back streets of manchester, and putting one of my crappy lomo lc-a's to good use...this particular one seems to have a lovely light leak somewhere, which positively adds to the "indy" feel i was going for with the band...

Aw wow the light leak is PERFECT! Definitely adds to that indy feel, I tell you photoshop has nothing on a good ole leaky lomo!!

Wonderful shot, breaking some rules here and there helps to remind me of the indy feel...
Washed out tones and very soft contrast give it such a good style especially for a band shoot. You deserve some justice from the Portrait Police, let me tell ya!

Small words from a big fan...

i love the spontaneous results from lomo!
you've cross processed the film too?
the colors are awesome!

heh...i replied to another comment on this by mistake, but let me reiterate:

interestingly enough, i didn't cross process...i think the weird colour shifting into the greens/blues (most prominent on this particular shot, less so in the others from the same roll) came just from the light leek...not sure. a happy accident, i think

oops...wrong reply

to answer YOUR question: lomos are, in my opinion, quite overrated. i got two off ebay, and both broke almost immediately (the film speed setting knob got stuck on one, and is free-wheeling on the other one...need to open both up and see if i can repair them).

don't believe all the marketing hype around lomo. in hindsight, i should have spent my time more productively and got myself a crappy toy camera such as the DIANA (see [link] for details, for instance).

oh, and if you must get a lomo, definitely look on ebay or similar...as the new "official" lomos you can buy are completely overpriced.
