Description
Another unfinished sketch. PLEASE CRITIQUE! I'M TRYING TO GET BETTER.Now this, children, is a lesson on how NOT to show emotion, draw anatomy, or try shading.... *sigh*
I tried the pose a million times but could not get the arms right... I need help! I also don't think I got the emotion through on this one. But I figured I couldn't make it much worse so I decided to post it up.
All without reference except for the mouth, 'cause I have trouble doing those. Reference for the mouth was in Episode 6 of Soul Eater (I'm pretty sure). I couldn't find a Google image or a deviation of Crona's Screech Alpha, so I just paused the episode somewhere in the middle.

Okie dokie, since you need some help I'll pop by. We'll start with this piece, let you take my advice, and then we'll see what to do next.
The main thing wrong (by which all other things will be judged) is the anatomy. Start from a basic skeleton and work your way out; I go through at least three sketch layers when I'm doing digital, and at least two when I'm doing traditional.
Start with a movement sketch. Essentially, a stick figure. Get the proportions mostly right, and move the limbs the sort of directions you want them to go. At this step, you'll only use something aside from sticks for (1) the head, (2) the shoulders, (3) the wrists, (4) the hands, (5) the knees, and (6) the ankles and feet. For the head, shoulders, wrists, knees and ankles, use circles; use trapezoids or rectangles for the hands and feet. For good anatomy, use this tutorial as a guide. This is also a quick proportions guide that'll do you a lot of good. For the base--your stick figures etc., please use this tutorial as a reference guide, since it will probably state it much clearer than I can.
Starting with the stick figures, and moving to the boxes mentioned in the last tutorial will really create a depth to your picture, and proportions will make sure that everything looks visually fine, even if the particulars aren't perfect. Start from the literal bones of a project and work out; the time you spend will really come back to you. After going through just these three tutorial pieces (and one or two others from this same artist; READ THEM ALL, honestly), I did this to prove what a difference just ONE MONTH can make, and it's amazing.
The dimensions on the face are actually very good; the mouth especially. What you need to work on now is the frame for the face--mainly, the body. Hair is relative and does what it wants to (kinda like in real life), but you'll catch up with it even by going through normal body tutorials. ^^
Hope this is a little help, even if it's mostly referring you to someone else. TT_TT

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'll definitely check those out. Yes, I know. Disproportional stuff... It's my quirk in drawing. I just can't seem to shake it whatever I do.

This is exactly what I look like when I see spiders in the basement.

Haha! So.... How did I do? Probably didn't show emotion right, huh?

You showed so much emotion it hurts

Lol. So I did well? Or did I showcase my horrifying lack of skill?
I need critiques and help improving.

Don't worry, you did quite well.
Your proportions need a bit working on, but it's all good! We all have these problems once in while, right?
And the hands...spend more time with practicing hands.

Yeah, I know... I did those with no reference at all. it's actually the first time I've done them that "well" with no reference. And disproportionate stuff is like my drawing quirk. I can never get proportions right. Even if I'm looking straight at a picture. Something will end up disproportional to the rest of it. But I will work on both those things. Thank you! Really, it means a lot to get a critique. I feed off of constructive criticism.

I'm glad you're fine with my criticism. I usually do that only when people ask me to, so as not to offend anybody.
I don't usually use references, because I like to practice art my own ways...I usually have myself pose for a piece in front of the mirror then replicate it through memory.

Yeah, that's probably what i should have done. Gosh, that pose was so frustrating. I kept trying to think, "Okay, so would the shoulder actually be up here." And the way the arms were turned... I erased that like 10-15 times. I hope it doesn't show.

It doesn't show...
I could give you a few tips on proportion, because I'm ALL about proportion, lol. And the hands, I usually judge their bigness by imagining the character having a hand over their eyes. What would it look like? Too big or too small?

Yay! Well I'm glad about that. Yeah perhaps I should try that. I was just so proud of how the fingers came out that I didn't want to mess it up. I probably should have changed it, though. Oh, well. This is definitely in the "Draw It Again" meme pile.

Maybe I could make a sketch dump for hands, so that you have a reference. I'm best at drawing hands, I'm not trying to brag I want to help you as much as possible.
