Decomposition starts to set within my chest
It's an attack the calcium prison can't prevent
All just post-adolescent fears and deep regret
But it still burns me to the core

The mind's a-whirl with possibilities
That get shot down by flaming arrows of Doubt
And as they twirl my mind's alive again
With latent fear that's threatening to claw its way out

"Kiss and make it better" doesn't work anymore
When Logic rips your soul to shreds
Reality is laughing its cruel chortle again
I don't want to wake until it ends
As the last grains of youth slither between my fingers
I'll wish again that childhood never died

The title is awesome and drew me in so that's cool! But the poem itself is pretty great, it has a gritty feeling that keeps you reading. The last line is really universal and completes it. Nice job.

Thanks! Nice to know it has the gritty feeling throughout. I try to keep that with my poems/songs but some fall short.
